In Dec I've been asked to put some stage lighting on the speaker. Slimpar 56's is what I have. Should I use red/blue and dim them or what colors do you recommend?

They will be on the stage, no trussing, just sitting on the edge.

What is the lighting supposed to accomplish? If you're looking for flattering white light typical of a speaking gig, you'll want to experiement with your fixtures to find the best whiteish color. It will be close to even values for all channels - likely you'll turn the blue down a bit compared to the other channels. It likely won't look very good, as RGB LEDs (and most RGBA LEDs) suck at making warm white.

Once again if you're trying to do conventional speaker light, lighting from the floor will look terrible - you'll need to get them overhead, or you'll have campfire face.

This is probably a job for the humble PAR can on a tree stand.
