There is a big ole snake on my homepage...

Re: There is a big ole snake on my homepage...

I second that thanks. Noticed the passband and thought it was cool a member had an advert on here. I actually favor the advertisements when done tastefully which Im sure it will be.

I am not sure. I see it as a "sponsor" box just above the new posts box on the front page, or above the blogs on the forum pages. The ad is about 2" x 4", large enough to easily read, but not too large so it dominates the page. I would say nicely done to Bennett, Dave, and company.

Re: There is a big ole snake on my homepage...

Hey, thanks guys. We're generating over a million ad impressions a month with these few placements, which is a lot more than we expected! David is doing the majority of the work here, and hand-screening each ad, so we'll do our best to keep any from being annoying. These positions seem to be working well, if anyone has any complaints we'd love to hear them. It is unlikely at this point we will add any more, we were planning on having some in the first and last post in threads for guests, but that doesn't seem necessary. We may also have a small ad in the very top bar (same size as the one in the blog listings) but it's not a priority.

Click throughs make a big difference in terms of how easily we can sell our available ads, so please click if you see an ad that interests you.

Also, as Ben notes, forum members are more than welcome to place ads. Jeff and Phil have done a lot (a LOT) for this site over the last few months, so we're giving them these slots as a thank you. Glad you agree that it's nice to have some house ads to keep things interesting!

Re: There is a big ole snake on my homepage...

When we started Sound Forums last year, we never imagined that we would have this much traffic! Now it has pretty much become a part time job for Bennett and I! Jeff Knorr and Phil Graham have been a tremendous help on the back-end as well.

In addition to Lectrosonics and TC Group, Rational Acoustics and Concerts Unlimited (Silas) will have ads running in the coming weeks. Every one of these companies includes members of the community!

We plan to keep advertisements as unobtrusive as possible. As part of our 'hand-screening' processes, we'll also be making sure that advertisements are 'high quality', or of large interest to members of the community.

Thanks everyone! We appreciate the support!
