Two X32 models?

Sorry if I have missed a this, I haven't followed the X32 discussions very much (or at all), but which one of these pictures is correct. The top one is from full compass as well as proaudiostar and the bottom from behringer's page. I'm assuming that full compass is wrong and that the picture was a prototype or something. Thoughts?

The full Compass one is not the released model. There is no jog wheel. There is a place for your phone there.

I've just examined the pre-release picture in more detail and noticed that it was mp3 capable and that it could handle projects.

Dedicated mute groups are also missing and no matrix layer.

Anything else you can find other than the phone holder and navigation keys?

What was the jog wheel's purpose in life?

Looks like the prototype had the headphone jack on the surface instead of in the handle. Would have been neat if they kept both.

I am still hoping that the current pictures of the X32 Producer are just early production models and that the final product will have LCD scribble strips

I'll buy it anyway, but at least there is some reason for hope!

Scott,
I can confirm that the X32 PRODUCER will not have Scribble Strips, as this was a design consideration in meeting the lower price point and footprint for a 19” Rack Mountable solution. Fortunately, we also offer the X32 COMPACT which does have Scribble Strips and the original 7” screen, but it is not rack mountable.

What was the jog wheel's purpose in life?

Just guessing, but a jog wheel is very handy in the studio for scrubbing audio
(like putting a reel to reel in pause and turning the reels by hand)
Helps you find that bad/bum note or hone in on an edit point etc.
Since the x32 is purposed for live, they probably jettisoned the feature.
