If I used a 1400i in bridged mode I'm assuming I'd be better off using one amp/box at 850W rather than 2 boxes in parallel at 4 Ohms/1200W because then each box would only see 600W.
Hey everyone. A question for the more experienced. I was going to dump some old "stuff" and look around for a UCS1PB and later when I have more money get another. While looking at the specs I noticed that it weighs 155 lbs. Hey that's almost as much as I weigh! LOL I'm almost 60, <5'10", 160lbs, and in good shape but I don't want to be lifting 155lb subs. I see the UCS1(non-powered) weighs a lot less at 118 lbs. and I have a pair of Mackie 1400i amps that I was going to sell. One hardly has any time on it although it's at least 12 yrs old and the other I'm not sure of. Both seem to work fine. I know "Mackie" doesn't float a lot of boats here but I'm wondering if I'm better off going with the UCS1's (less weight and < 1/2 the cost of the UCS1PB) and using the Mackie's until I have more money for better amps? The Mackies are rated at 850W@8 Ohms and 1200W@4 Ohms (Bridged). If I used a 1400i in bridged mode I'm assuming I'd be better off using one amp/box at 850W rather than 2 boxes in parallel at 4 Ohms/1200W because then each box would only see 600W. Yeah....Nay? Or is there a Powered Sub that's as good as the UCS1PB that doesn't weigh nearly as much as I do in the same price range? Or...buy two USC1's, dump the 1400i amps and buy a.."X" amp? Thanks Murph........
