VUE subs?

Re: VUE subs?

The designs look interesting, particularly the mix of bandpass and direct radiating in the same cab. Certainly some experienced cats in that company.

Combining the best attributes of direct radiating and band-pass configurations, ACM technology begins with a truly unique driver configuration, where both woofers share a common vented chamber.
One woofer’s frontal radiation is direct, while the other woofer drives a second vented chamber that has fourth-order response characteristics.

Each woofer has its own amplifier and power supply, and is assigned a unique DSP algorithm. The sophisticated combination of physics and DSP enables the summed acoustic output of woofers and vents to be exceptionally flat in both magnitude and phase, while overall distortion is exceedingly low in comparison to its significant acoustic output.

Re: VUE subs?

I just got back from a demo. My fellow eligible AARP members, Swingin' Jim Sides and Fowler (fresh from parole) were doing a demo across the street. Krazy Uncle Kenny was not there.

First impression, nice. Sound is balanced, not harsh. Workmanship on the product is first rate. Design attributes are world class. There were 8 prs of tops, from a soft dome and 4" woof to a 4" double spider beryllium voice coil with a 15" woofer and a self powered model. No horn ring, tight bass, smooth upper mid. Demo area was in a casino parking lot. There were 4 kinds of subs. All very tight. Some of the tops can be used as wedges, mounted on sticks or hung with integrated hardware. An engineering staff of 30 is responsible for the product, engineered in Escondido, CA, built in a partner owned, German managed facility in Shanghai.

Didn't get pricing because a) my corporate overlords don't let me buy those sorts of tools and b) our shows have an audio manufacturer "partner" and "official sound system" so to them it doesn't matter what I think.

Re: VUE subs?

Anyone heard/used these?

I was able to hear them on Tuesday.

I liked the sound of the H series H28 ? sub - dual 18, powered - sounded very good - even, went fairly low but not super low - below 35hz

I didn't like the AS-418 as much but that may be personal preference.
I did like the tightness and punch of the A series dual 15

All the boxes were passive other than the H series which includes the amps.
No EQ was used
The smaller boxes sounded very good flat - the H series had a very nice top end with the Beryllium horn drivers.
I was hoping for a little more lows from the H tops but again this could be preference.
We did compare it to one of our Nexo PS15-R2 running passive on a NXAmp 4x4 in PS15-R2 FOH WB mode.
It was nice to hear a box I know next to these boxes.

Overall I am very impressed.
Also from some traces I have seen the H series has very flat phase and freq response and from what Jim said they are not using any FIR to accomplish this.
