Thing is that most of the people living on the west have no real knowledge of what is really going on. Muslim world is slowly consolidating in his effort to strike back and retaliate for the damage Christians did since the Crusaders. USA acts in the past decades are just making them stronger and using brute force is far from the solution. Muslims (i.e. Islam fundamentalists) grows in number at a insane rate. Now look at the Libya thing, Ghadafi will fall eventually and then what? A clear field for the fundamentalists to take over. Same thing will happen in Egypt, Tunisia and there goes all Africa bit by bit. The world have given up on Somalia long ago and same thing will repeat in most of the countries there.

In the past,oppresive leaders have railed about how evil the US and western world is. They did this to provoke hate and fear against us. Today with internet,facebook etc, young people can see that the western world is not evil and they want the same freedoms that we have.That technology is a game changer and it will be harder for dictators to control and spread fear about the western world among their populations like they have done in the past.

While I agree with you that the Western World peoples do not generally have evil thoughts of other peoples, our Governments have done enough to provoke that fear of the evil West. We can't always affect what dictators promote, we can affect what WE, the common people can promote.

That same technology conduit that "is a game changer" to lessen the fear of Western people, is easily broken, by either side....China, Iran, North Korea,etc...have plenty of "filter systems" ..... and now the U.S. has the ability to throw the switch on the whole grid.

Considering some of the awful things that the western governments have either caused or have stood idly by and watched without taking action so that our own interests wouldn't be affected, I don't have any problems understanding why some might hate us or at least our actions.

Many claim that our "free" world of market economy and chasing the money is as much a dictatorship as anything else: Just keep our stomachs and fuel tanks full and always wanting a little more wealth and we'll be too busy to notice anything else...
