Why the "DJ" prefix?

Re: Why the "DJ" prefix?

Which DJs nowadays put DJ in front if their names? I don't know many but I think of Deadmau5 and Tiesto and they don't have that prefix...

Tiesto...you mean the guy that has made over a Billion dollars? ;oJ (that was from some bone -head DJ wanna-be/groupie from another Forum) :o)

Should file lawsuit after lawsuit for all those "DJs" that are false advertising... the ones that use NO disks.

Technology changed. Dj's are still active (they still get work) and while they may not get a good sound out of a pa they are similar to musicians in the speakers are their instruments. (now I'm not talking about the press play build playlistism junkies. I'm talking about true mixing of songs to mash together)

Zombie thread alert!! I'm not sure what's worse - a thread about DJs being dug up from the grave, or the fact that I was the one that started it 11 months ago.

I am glad in a perverse way that there doesn't seem to be any consensus on this issue yet.

I think it could be like the military:

Sgt. This
Major That
ETC

I was thinking something along the lines of The Duchess of Grand Fenwick, the ruler of The Duchy of Grand Fenwick. (The Mouse That Roared). Formally redundant, as is the formality.

i think the consensus is that insecure people will be bothered by what innocent things others are doing to make themselves happy
