Wifi router troubles

Re: Wifi router troubles

A router is not needed if you assign your network setting manually and don't plan on accessing outside networks.

I first want to buy a couple for at home. I understand they don't work good with other wifi networks using the same SSID, so I plan on switching of the wifi of my D-Link DIR655, and connect these as a Access Point.

For the X32, it would be nice to have them, with just one UTP cable needed to connect, that way I can easily put them up high above the audience.

Re: Wifi router troubles

You may only need one to cover your house. These have great coverage compared to other access points.

Fast delivery.
I installed one, the standard unify, not a long range and this looks good. With just one connection cable I have also more freedom to put it on a better central spot. With wifi analyzer I see an improvement of about 10-15dB.

Instead of buying a different router for my X32, I think I will buy a unify dual band version. Allthough they are more expensive, I hope to use the 5GHz when the 2.4GHz is to crowdy.

Why not just use 5gHz all the time?

Why not just use 5gHz all the time?

I'm afraid that it is difficult with long ranges or a lot of steel...
But maybe it's easier to solve as a far to crowdy 2.4GHz. (Maybe 2 AP's)

Anybody tried to connect 2x mixing console (FOH & monitor) say for instance X32 to one net and connect at both places an AP?
So 2 cat cables (Ethernet and audio) to FOH and 2 swithes (or 1 router and a switch) for ethernet connections.

That way you can connect to both consoles at both locations (different IP) and have best coverage at these positions.
When walking around the venue I can live with a less good connection...

At home I think I don't need 5GHz because there's not much traffic around, I just need coverage.
