Using the X32 for Corporate Shows I had a quick look at the X32 console at Guitar Center, read the manual from cover to cover, (almost) and then played with X-Control. I'm very impressed with it at the price. But there are some things which would cause me a problem in the corporate environment. First, it seems you can't assign the oscillator to individual mix busses. I use two busses to send to the record decks, and at any time I will need to ship tone to them without affecting anything else. So the present situation doesn't work, unless I have misunderstood. Unfortunately the Monitor screen is not available in X-Control so I couldn't explore further. Second, I can't see how to assign my stereo left and right to matrix one and two respectively, to drive the main PA in stereo. Seems that it sends a mix of both both left and right to each matrix. I don't run any part of the PA directly from the stereo, it all goes to a matrix first. Am I missing something? Third, if I had a card in the console, could I assign the insert points of the input channels to the card so that I could insert sixteen channels of Dugan automixer? Or could the Dugan be connected via ADAT? Or better still, are there any thoughts of making a Dugan Card similar to that available for the Yamaha digitals? (amusingly this would no doubt cost more than the console!) For me, the X32 seems comparable to the Yamaha LS9-32. It is missing some of the LS9's features such as the Custom Fader Layer which is very useful, and the LS9 has more comprehensive routing. But you certainly can't compare the price! Thoughts appreciated, Mick Berg.
