Re: Router problem For the iPad, in the Settings app, look in the upper left hand corner and tap on the Wifi section. You should see your wireless network (and other wireless networks around you) to the right. The wireless network you are connected to will have a checkmark. All the way to the right there is a blue arrow - tap that and you can turn off DHCP by choosing Static and then manually specifying your network settings. Minimally you need an IP address and subnet mask, and to be safe for router put in the IP address of your access point. DNS shouldn't matter but if it complains, again put in the IP address of your access point. EDIT: Sorry, I didn't see you also asked about your router - it should have an IP address that you can then connect to with a web browser to change those settings. Probably 192.268.1.1. If not, you should be able to find the manual for it online and do a factory reset (usually sticking a paper clip into a reset port on the back and holding it until some lights flicker in a particular way). Once factory reset, it should have the IP address that's specified in the manual. For your Linksys, go here: http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT54G/ and then click on the downloads tab. Select Version 5 as your hardware and then you should see the manual for download. As for disconnects, it could also be channel interference - you can manually try setting the channel to 1, 6 or 11. Those are the primary channels - do not use any in between - those blend frequencies used by those base channels so instead of using up one of the primary channels you will use two - and radio spectrum is pretty crowded! If you have a Mac you can hold down the option key while pulling down the Airport icon in your menu bar and it will show you channels in use around you - pick 1, 6, or 11 that has the least - if there are five networks on 6, four on 1 and two on channel 11, then 11 is probably the best to pick. If you see any, especially if they are strong, in the 7-10 channel range, then stick with channel 1 as channels 6 and 11 are going to be interfered with - same thing for anyone using channels 2-5 - now 1 & 6 are compromised. Good luck. Wifi is so much fun since you can't control what those do around you....
