Inputs - Possible feature request I am finally picking up my X32 tomorrow. Very excited! I have been reading up on some of the more subtle features of the console, including on routing inputs. I think I understand the basics: e.g., the notion of selection inputs in blocks of 8 as sources and then being able to individually asign those sources to 32 channels. My experience on the digital side has largely been with the Tascam DM-3200 where you can basically route any input to any of the 48 internal channels. (In fact, you can route two inputs to each channel and use the "flip" button to switch between record and playback mode for multi-track recording and playback.) On the X32, why limit the number of sources (not channels) to 32? If I want to use two XLR inputs on the board and have the remainder of the channels come from 2 S16s on stage, assigning a bank of 8 local inputs from the back means I have 6 unused inputs and limited my inputs to 24 from the stage. If there were 48 sources (i.e., another column of 8 inputs of the block patch page), I could pick 2 channels from the local in bank and have 30 channels left to pull from the 2 S16s. I apologize if someone mentioned this already. I may read the post previously (been following the thread since July) and not really understood the point at the time. And in case someone argues that the X32 would require more processing power to do this, keep in mind I am not talking about processing 8 more channels of signal, just having access to 8 more sources to choose from in assigning to the same 32 channels. Other than screwing up the current routing home screen, am I missing something here?
