I can't comment on your wifi problems other than to say it sounds like maybe you have something interfering with your connection. Have you tried switching the wifi channel or frequency? As for the pointer on the selected pan control, from what I can tell this is normal behavior. There should be a highlight box showing a pointer around the pan control you currently have selected. It should move, or go away, when you release, or move to another, pan control.
