In reply to Uli's request for ideas regarding expansion cards, break-out boxes, accessories etc here are my thoughts:
I would like to send more than 32 tracks to a computer for recording. Ideally I would like:
A MADI I/O expansion card
If the expansion card slot is limited to 32 channels in and out I would still like to see:
A MADI I/O card with the ability to route 32 of the 64 MADI channels into the X32, route 32 channels out of the X32 to MADI, whilst passing through the unrouted MADI channels from the input to the output.
A 32 I/O AES3 card
A 32 I/O ADAT card
In terms of AES50 integration I would like to see:
AES50 to MADI I/O interface
AES50 to AES3 I/O interface
AES50 to ADAT I/O interface
These could be incorporated into s16 type stage boxes either as option card slots or as discreet units - giving you the option of Analog, MADI, AES3 or ADAT I/O connectivity.
Uli's comment that they are "currently looking into developing real-time, low-latency distribution network solutions with up to 160 channels over Cat5" is also interesting.I would welcome this with the addition of the same MADI, AES3 and ADAT interfaces.
In terms of software I would like to be able to route Channel Direct Outputs (with Dynamics and EQ, pre and post fade) directly to the expansion card without having to first route them to the P16 and/or analog outputs first.
