X32's Firewire Multitrack recording reliability

Re: X32's Firewire Multitrack recording reliability

Hey all,

Has anyone had much experience using the X32's firewire out to multi-track? How reliable did it seem?

So far so good, have 2) full size, 2) compacts , and 1) rack in service for about 2 years.

Have had had good luck with reaper, extremely stable. Def do testing before taking to a show, I tested for a week with my laptop and eventually moved from win 8 to win 7. Way more stable and bullet proof.

macs have been solid across the board.

Do it all the time, with Reaper on a 2010 MacBook Pro 13 (with aftermarket SSD). Has always worked perfectly, USB or Firewire (Firewire seems to use a bit less CPU, but just recording is pretty light anyway).

Mac OS X/Mavericks - Is there any general consensus on what software is the most efficient (CPU utilization) for multitrack recordings? I have Logic Pro X, is there anything more light weight? Or any recommendations on getting Logic Pro super slim?

I've never used anything but Reaper, but I have previously recorded 20 tracks while also running QLab and playing 480p video clips, all without a glitch, on a 2010 MacBook Pro (2.4GHz Core 2 Duo). I've never seen Reaper by itself use more than about 15-20% CPU when *just* recording.
