Yamaha 01V96i. How to retrieve a scene using a User Defined Key

Yup, page 46 of the Owner's Manual refers.

Thank you very much for your reply. The Owner's Manual (Version -) you provided a link to, had a better explanation of the procedure than my Version 2. And function #3, Scene XX Recall, is on pg 119 of Reference Manual.
While at the User Defined Key2 Assign screen,
I selected
Scene
xx Recall
and made it to the rightmost column and tried to enter a number.
I tried using various combinations of the Data Entry Section :
Parameter wheel
[ENTER] button
[DEC] & [INC] buttons
Left, Right, Up, Down buttons
to no avail.
I thought maybe it was expecting one of the User Defined Keys to be pressed. I pressed User Key 2. That wiped out the previous assignments. Well, darn!
What did I do wrong?

I confess, I haven't used this model of desk so beyond re-checking what's in the manual, I've no other suggestions.

Mr. Broughton, thank you for replying and the Step 7 you circled is my stumbling block. I have gotten to the center column and made a selection. Then, I cannot move the cursor to the right column to enter a number. I have tried the arrows in the Display Section and Data Entry Section and the Rotary Knob. What am I missing???
