Is the only difference between a PM5D and a PM5D RH the recallable preamp?

That would only make sense if you had all of that gear already. So if I load it with MY-Dante cards and run it with RIO-boxes it's not important which model I choose?
I haven't tried it, but the RIO headamps can be controlled (and recalled) from the PMD5D.If you have a guest engineer come in they will still have to dial up the gain manually on the rio boxes.

If what you're trying to accomplish is a good use for an old NON-RH PM5D, then just grab a cheap DSP5D and use the PM5D as a controller.
And if you already have a bunch of RIOs, then for heaven's sake, buy the CL console to go with them!
maybe it's US only? How did you find that item on ebay? I get zero hits if I try to search for a DSP5D on ebay but I can view that one using your link.
Should be fine.DSP5D, totally forgot about that option
Can you recall a PM5D RH -show on a non RH with DSP5D without any major issues?
Does anyone know if the gain through a 5D non-RH with RIO preamps is the same as a 5D-RH? As in, can you load a show file (reassign channels to the slot) and go? The company I work for has a non-RH that hasn't came out in years with engineers favoring M7s and SC48's. We all know the resale on the non-RHs, and I am not a huge fan of the DSP5D route.
Should be pretty easy to measure.
