Atlantic City, NJ – October 2018… From August 13 – 16, the annual DJ Expo, the industry’s largest gathering of professional DJs, took place. As the industry’s longest running and best-attended tradeshow of is kind, this year’s shindig offered a wide range of exhibits showcasing the latest product offerings, demonstrations, panel discussions, performances, and more—resulting in an exceptional opportunity for aspiring and professional DJs alike to learn and network. As part of this year’s festivities, DAS Audio had a dominant presence, where company representatives and professionals put several of the company’s latest offerings through their paces.
Edwin J. Guerra, U.S. Marketing Manager for DAS Audio of America, the Miami-based office for the company’s operations throughout the Americas, was on-hand at this year’s tradeshow. He discussed the DAS products featured at the exhibit, along with his perspective on this year’s activities.
“This year’s DJ Expo was a terrific opportunity for us to showcase our loudspeaker systems in a setting that was optimized for the DJ culture,” Guerra explained. “The DAS setup included four Vantec-20A full range active, curved source line array enclosures that served as the top boxes along with two Event 121A powered subwoofers for the low frequency. The equipment was configured for a sub and two tops each for the left and right sides. Completing the setup, we used Altea 712A powered, 2-way point source enclosures as monitor speakers for the setup.”
“The DAS equipment was used for all DJ performances at our booth along with Serafin’s Tasty Tuesday after party,” Guerra added. “The party took place on Tuesday, August 14th in the evening and was sponsored by DAS Audio. Some of the acts that performed through our loudspeaker system included Grandmixer DXT, Jazzy Jay, Sophia Lin, Serafin, as well as Buck Rodgers and several of the MixSyndicate Radio DJs.”
The DJ market has grown exponentially in recent years and equipment manufacturers are paying closer attention than ever before. Like any other performing endeavor, choosing the products that are uniquely optimized and designed for this application is a crucial consideration. When queried about those attributes that make products such as the Vantec-20A and Event 121A an ideal choice for the DJ market, Guerra shared his perspective.

The Event 121A cabinet design provides lower frequency excursion over long distances, which is ideal for DJ playback.”
In summarizing his decision to showcase this loudspeaker configuration, Guerra offered the following comments, “This setup is the loudest, cleanest, compact system available on the market in its price class. With this year’s DJ Expo now in the rear view mirror, Guerra offered these final thoughts on the tradeshow. “DJ Expo was excellent,” he reports. “As a company, DAS showed a lot of growth—from the size of our booth to an increased number of personnel working the event. Serafin’s Tasty Tuesday night event enabled us to showcase the system in a real-world environment, and this generated a rush of inquiries after people heard the Vantec 20A and Event 121A. This resulted in many opportunities to discuss marketing strategies and reinforce relationships with our DJ ambassadors, dealers, and end user artists. I believe it was a win-win for all.”
