Heil Sound To Sponsor “The Wrecking Crew” At NAMM

(Fairview Heights, IL) Professional microphone manufacturer Heil Sound has partnered with filmmaker Denny Tedesco to present a screening of the acclaimed music documentary, “The Wrecking Crew,” at this years’ winter NAMM show. The screening, which is free to NAMM attendees, takes place at 11am on Sunday, January 27th in meeting room 204B located inside the Anaheim Convention Center.

The film is a loving look at the legendary group of Los Angeles based session musicians from the 1960s and mid-1970s who played on countless hit records, TV soundtracks, and film scores. Artists such as The Beach Boys, The Monkees, Nancy Sinatra, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, the Mamas and the Papas, and scores of others all used The Wrecking Crew on their records. Tedesco’s father, the late Tommy Tedesco, was a guitar player in this ensemble and is featured prominently in the film.

The backstory of this film has become its own source of interest. For the last several years Denny has been traveling extensively presenting screenings as a means of raising the funds needed to pay for the licensing rights for the music cues used in the film. There are over 130 cues and all have been derived from original tracks. Once this funding has been accomplished, the film can go to worldwide distribution. Tedesco said recently, “We are close, very close to completing our funding. Having Heil Sound onboard has been a tremendous help.”

For his part, Heil Sound company founder Bob Heil says, “I can’t tell you how excited we are to be part of this presentation at NAMM. The Wrecking Crew and my early days with the touring business of Heil Sound traveled on parallel paths during the same time period. While they were inside making incredible records I was outside traveling with those artists when they toured. Sunday’s screening will be special.”
