The 8251 18” loudspeaker incorporates McCauley Sound’s latest long excursion neodymium motor with an industry first hybrid paper composite cone. The 8251 motor has an FEA optimized Bl vs. displacement profile to improve linearity and reduce distortion, a large aluminum heat sink, and 4” aluminum voice coil to improve power handling. The new cone body balances high stiffness with the internal damping that is inherent to paper cone loudspeakers, leading to a low distortion punchy sound even at high power levels. To help maintain stable parameters over time and increase the longevity of the driver, the three 8” spiders are impregnated with a silicone compound.

The 8251 is the first McCauley loudspeaker to bring together all of our new construction techniques which have been developed over the past 5 years. The 8251 will be used in all future McCauley M88 touring subwoofers and M88i installation subs. It will also be available as an upgrade for existing M88 customers, as it was engineered to have improved performance with the existing M88 enclosure tuning.
