Re: What sort of rig are you running?

I don't have any real degree of consistency in my rig since I do theatre sound but here is what I speced, am partially providing, and am using for my current (and by far biggest, to date) show:

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

[quote title=Evan Hunter wrote on Tue, 11 January 2011 20:44]
Ive got a 1640 as well, Almost sold it a month or two back but just couldnt do it. I think its a great board for the size/money. All 6 auxes are rep/post switchable and thats a huge plus.

Right now im restructuring the rig and sold off a lot, What I have left is, Mackie Onyx 1640, QRX115s, Crown Power, TC ELectronics for FX. Looking to get into an overall larger scalable rig and researching some options. I will always keep a pile of QRX115s around for monitors/Fills.

Well my restructuring happened faster then I thought. I ended up picking up 4 SRX728s and a Soundcraft GB8. The pice was right and it really rounds off my B rig with EV QRX115s, JBL SRX728s, Mackie Onyx1640, Soundcraft GB8-48 and a pile of microphones. Will be adding a few Itech Amps to power the whole thing.

Next Stop Digital Console, Few more QRX115s, transportation and then a full on larger rig.

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

Theater rig:

Yamaha LS9-32

Rane RPM88 x 2 (house processor and monitor EQ/limiters)

4x Yorkville U15, biamped by 2x Crown K1 and 2x CrownK2

2x Peavey QW118 driven by a bridged Crown K2 (in this room, they actually keep up with the tops).

6x JBL MP412 driven by 2x Crown K1

The LS9-32 replaced a Peavey Mark 8, 2x Rane C4, 2x TC Triple C, 2x Rane G4, a Rane PEQ55, and a Kurzweil KSP8 (that I never bothered to install because the room is too damned lively). The U15s replaced a single SLS LS8695 per side. The JBLs replaced SLS US8190s. The RPM88s replaced dbx DR480s.

The ratchet straps are now black, and go through a 45 x 45 inch square plinth, so the rig is safe in high winds.

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

My usual rig is

up to 4 UPA1C

2 USW1

Powersoft Q4002 for the tops

QSC 1104 for the subs

Monitors for the most part are EV ZX1s though I sometimes use Martin LE100 clones, powered by Camco DL series amps.

Mics for accoustic/classical gigs are Neumann Km184s and 104s, and some old Calrec CC50/35 and EV RE20s.

For noiser stuff then the usual Shure and Audix stuff comes out to play.

Console and mixer are some combination of old Roland VMC7100/7200 and VM7000 anything from 20 channels out to a max of 56.

1 Rane C4

Senn e835's, sm58's,57's etc

audix D6 kick mic

My sound for hire gigging consists mostly of:

-local concert in the park scenerios (classic rock)

-classical choral/orchestral/concert band events

-showchoir festivals

-school musicals

-indoor/outdoor DJ'ed events

My rig is exactly what I need for 90% of my work. The other 10% I subcontract extra gear, etc.

My monitors work very well for their size/weight and I have had nothing but compliments from my clients.

The above works for me and my sound for hire clients.

If you have a chance to work Mr. Berg's show, by all means do so. The emphasis is on the singers and songs, and the vocal talent is impressive.

I'm new on this forum. I come from the studio side but trying to get up to speed working in live SR. I love live sound!

At the club I just stopped working at after about 4 years I was actually able to get them to replace the old PA.

What I installed was
