What sort of rig are you running?

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

My club rig:

2-JBL VP7215/95DPAN tops, on stands, machined my own pole sockets

4-JBL VPSB7118DPAN subs

DSP-System Architect through a wireless router

2-dbx 1046

1-dbx 1074

1-Lexicon MX400, 2 stereo verbs

Mixers-Mix Wiz or GB4-24

Monitors from FOH

Wedges-6 JBL VP7212MDP

2-Ashly Protea 4.24 EQ's

What! No amp racks?
icon_biggrin.gif

All ProCo Sound snakes and cables

All Sennheiser E900 series mics

My FOH rig becomes the monitor rig when I do large shows with a friend. I use the same outboard rack, one VP top and VP sub for drumer. I have a couple PRX512M's I use for small FOH or extra wedges in a pinch.

Monitor console-A&H GL2800M-840

4-Sennheiser G3 IEM's, 4 stereo mixes w/stereo verb

6-Wedges, the same JBL VP7212MDP

Transportation-Chevy 1500 with camper shell. Yep, it all fits. On smaller shows, barely. Sometimes I'll rent a 5X8 U-Haul for the larger gigs. Only $20.

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

I provide for bars and clubs locally, with a few larger outdoor shows, but mainly a barfly in the 200-300 person size rooms. Everything goes in a 12x7 Homesteader Lowrider trailer with rear ramp. Generally use IEM for everyone so monitors are not an important part of my system, but I have some old school boxes.

4 QRX212

4 LS1208

XTI4000 for tops and monitors (4)

XTI6000 for subs

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

Our small all purpose system is used for my wife's all female 4 piece rock and blues band in small venues and for private gigs. In our area all the larger venues and festival gigs have PA provided. It was put together in the hope of fitting the PA and all band gear into A 5x10 Wells Cargo trailer but alas some gear still must ride in a separate vehicle due to the trailers weight rating.

Mains: 2x Community S3294 12''x6.5''x1''.

Subs: 2x Danley TH Mini 12'' tapped horn.

Monitors: 3x DIY Assistance Audio 12''x1'' coaxial.

FOH: Mix Wiz 16:2

DBX DRPA

DBX 2231

DBX 1046

Peavey Q231FX

TC-M Onexl

Audiopile 16x4 100' snake

200+lbs of various cables.

Mic case:

2x SM58

3X SM57

1x Beta 87A

1x AT AE3300

AT AE4100

2X Sennheiser 609

1x Sennheiser 906

1x Audix D6

2x Octavia MK-012-01

Amp rack:

1x QSC PLX3102

1x QSC PLX1602

All in all a pretty nice relatively light weight system for up to about 200 people at our levels.

Ive been working on getting monitorworld up to snuff recently and am finally real happy with it so its time to look at other upgrades. I know at some point Ill need a 150' snake possibly 32 channels. The mains are another area that Id like to upgrade. The SR-x stuff sounds fantastic but its a bit heavy...

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

My stuff resembles Matt's in many ways so I stole his format
icon_smile.gif

I have ''2'' FOH Rigs.

My ''A-rig'' consist of:

Mains: 2 pair of EV QRx212

Subs: 4 JTR Growlers

FOH Processing: Sabine NAV480

FOH Amps: QSC PLX1602 and PLX3402 on mains, QSC PL6.0 on subs

Monitors: Wizard Sound 12'' B&C Coax loaded wedges

Mon Amps: QSC PLX3402 x 2

My ''B-rig'' consist of:

Mains: QSC K12s

Subs: QC KW181s

FOH Amps: none - powered speakers
icon_smile.gif

Monitors: Wizard Sound 12'' B&C Coax loaded wedges (same wedges as the A rig)

Mon Amps: QSC PLX1804 x 2

My Mixers: I have an Yamaha LS9-32 and a 01V96. I tend to use the LS9 as my primary mixer. I have a pair of OctoPre preamps to add inputs when needed.

Snakes and Mic Cables: I tend to use products from EWI, I have their 24x8x150 on a reel. I have several sub snakes to keep the stage clean. I use almost all Starline cables.

For transportation I own a 2005 Dodge Ram1500 with the Hemi pulling a 7x12 tandem axle trailer for the ''A'' rig and a Dodge Grand Caravan for the ''B'' rig.

Room for improvements:

I could use another pair of powered speakers so am looking at getting a pair of QSC KW122s when I can afford it.

I would like some lighter weight wedges for the ''B'' rig that can also be used with the ''A'' rig when needed. Something like the MRX512M or the SRX712 would do. Microwedges would be real nice.

I also would like a 15'' speaker for the drummer wedge.

In the future, I would like to to sell my 01v96 for an LS9-16 for the consistency of the user interface.

Edit: fix typo

pair of 01v96 boards

QSC amps

Lots of uninteresting wiring and pedestrian mics

A couple pairs of Mackie 450s and a pair of QSC HPR122is

I actually have a fair bit of lighting gear at the moment too - 40 or so lekos, mostly Strand Centurys, a few Source Fours

A few pars

NSI 7532 board

If there will be an equipment budget this year (kid #2 is on the way, just bought a new minivan), next on the list is another pair of JFL118 subs and some LED pars. Looking at some of the Blizzard stuff.

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

Well my rig ain't much yet. Most of my gigs have been in theaters where a house rig is provided, and there's not much of an option to use anything else. But as I venture out of the land of musicals, I'm building what I can.

Analog FOH:

Console: A&H GL2000-432, Mackie 1402, Behringer 802

Processing Rack:

2-Art CS2 Comp/Lim/Gate

2-Symetrix 425 Comp/Lim/Exp (Thanks Phil)

1-Omnicraft GT4 4ch Gate

2-Ashly GQ131 EQ

1-Alesis MicroVerb

1-Alesis MidiVerb

Its not great, but works for the youth/community theater that I have been living in.

Digital FOH:

Console: Yamaha O3D

Expanded to 24 channels with:

2-SMPro PR8e (well a 2nd will be coming shortly)

1-16ch patch panel with the 8 on-board pres and 8 outs

First show will be the musical Assassins coming at the end of February.

Speakers/Amplification:

QRx115s

Yorkville PL12s (Came with a DJ rig I was paid with for a gig)

EV Evid SOS3.2

Crown UT2020 (Rebrand of the CE2000)

QSC 1400

Ashly FTX-2000

Transportation:

1999 Chevy Cavalier - Thought I had an SUV last summer but that turned out to be a giant turd. Looking to upgrade in the coming months. If you're into Facebook stalking I've got a few pictures of the Cavalier packed to the GILLS I did with Phil's racks and stacks.

Basically prior to this winter my focus had been on supplementing house rigs in theaters with better/more reliable gear when I had to mix. Thus the mish-mosh. Most was stuff that had just been acquired thru my high school/college years. The 2011 goal is to build on the FOH stuff to improve the quality of processing and then partner with others for racks n stacks.

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

Current A-Rig

2 x Peavey SP-3

2 x Peavey SP-218

1 x Crown XLS 802 MF/HF

2 x Crown XLS 402 LF

2 x QSC RMX 2450 Subs (Heavey amp rack! Hello hernia surgery!)

MONS

Current wedges are 4 x Yamaha. Almost done building my Proprietary wedges (already have amps and processing.) Once they're done, it'll be:

4 x Biamped Proprietary wedges 12'' & 1''

2 x QSC GX3 HF

2 x QSC GX5 MF

Yamaha ls9-32 (Finally sold my gl2400)

32 x 8 RamLatch multipin snake

Current B-Rig

2 x QSC K10

2 x Yamaha SW118v

I use my LS9 for my B-Rig as well
icon_razz.gif

32 x 8 snake

My thoughts on the Peavey SP Rig: Big, Heavy cabinets that aren't constructed very well and get loud very easily. My DSP EQ is chopped to hell to make them sound good. This may be because of the amp combo or maybe that's just how it is (any thoughts/suggestions?)

My thoughts on the QSC K-Series rig: I absolutely love it. My first time using them I used no DSP and pulled a touch of 500Hz and 6.3kHz out and they sounded great out of the box, IMO. I used them for monitors the next day and I didn't like the angle that they were at, so I put a DI box under it to prop it up a bit more. Other than that, I love them. Very very lightweight too.

I'm currently in the process of selling my entire Amp rack and SP-3's if anyone's interested.

Replacing them with 2 x ev qrx, qsc plx mains, crest pro9200 subs.

I pull everything with my dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi. It has the full tow package which has the extra radiators. It pulls my 6x10 trailer w/o even breathing. Gas mileage while in Tow/Haul mode is ''eh.'' I would say 12-14mpg. W/o the trailer, on the highway, I've gotten up to the high 20's due to the cylinder shut off feature.

Let me know if there are any suggestions to my set up! I'm always up for anything.

-B

It all fits into my quadcab Dakota. That being said, I'm looking for a 5x8 trailer that will fit into my garage. As a one man show, it's a pain looking for help to load the subs into my truck. Everything else I can do by myself. A trailer would allow me to do it all without any help. And the other issue, is loading everything back into my garage after a gig at 3 in the morning. With a trailer I could back it into the garage and leave it there for the next gig.

My wishlist is the trailer, and a StudioLive 24.4.2 one of these days I'll bite the pulley and pull the trigger on the SL. It's a nice little setup, does pretty much why I want, and sounds good doing so.

Love the Yorkville Unity stuff, and very easy (and cheap) to rent more around here as I need it. In reality (especially over the winter with smaller inside gigs), the QSC's get used far more as mains - but revert to monitor duty for bigger shows.

Usually this stuff gets hauled around in my Chev Express 3500, and I rent a U Haul 6x12 trailer if I need more space. Occasionally I just throw the K8's, the MixWiz, and a few cables and mics in the trunk of my Saab for a small gig.

Re: What sort of rig are you running?

I do a lot more reading than posting on most forums, but I might as well make my first post here with my rig.

Current Bar rig, all fits into a minivan:

FOH:

EV QRX 115/75 (2)

2010 JTR Growlers (2, waiting on 2 more to be delivered)

Yamaha wedges (5)

Amp Rack:

Driverack 260

QSC RMX 850

QSC RMX 1850hd (2) > awaiting a QSC GX7 to use for QRX lows

QSC RMX 2450 (2) > bridged mono per sub

Carvin DCM2004L - 4 channel monitor amp

Mixer/FX Rack:

Yamaha MG206c Mixer

DBX 231 EQ (3)

Lexicon MX200 FX

Mics:

EV nd767a (8 )

Shure SM57 (8 )

Shure SM58 (4)

Audix D6 (1)

Sennheiser e604 (3)

Whirlwind IMP2 DI (4)

Fostex MC10 Condenser (2)

I also have JBL JRX125 cabs for rental, people love that orange badge.

Future equipment I am considering:

Allen Heath Gl2400-24

JTR Triple 12s (2)

QRX 115/75 (2)

Yorkville LS808 (2)

The above future equipment will allow me to have two good bar rigs working at the same time and allow me to mix and match equipment in order to best fit the needs of more gigs expanding the work I do both indoors and outside.
