Behringer line array

Re: Behringer line array

I feel like I'm channeling JR... it was only a matter of time before a company with deep pockets and vast marketing would do an entry-level vertical array.

It doesn't matter what it sounds like or how it's deployed because it's LINE ARRAY. And they are magic, and all the same, right? I see a bunch of established players get hosed in what is left of the county fair and community festival market when every band with daddy's credit card buys this thing.

Re: Behringer line array

Notice how it barely says Berhinger anywhere on it? No loud yellow logos, no "super duper line-X array". Looks like Uli is trying to kick it up a notch.

Honestly, they have what it takes to make the best equipment. Money. Lots and lots of money. You can hire the best R&D and build anything you want as long as you have deep pockets. I'm gonna kick back and watch where this goes. FWIW, if you bought an Audi in the 80's all your friends would have ridiculed you to death, if the car didn't kill you first. Now look at what Audi is doing.....

Like I said, part of me really wants to like it. That is the part. I am still hoping that it will sound good and not break within the first few months. At least it wasn't named Euroarray Pro :)

No need to channel me just rub my virtual bottle and I'll appear.

I appreciate that Uli want to think of himself as just like the big boys, but I have to wonder how big is the market for applications that truly need a line array? While this isn't about needs. It's about wants, and the customer always gets what they want. Yes, eventually we'll have line array computer speakers.

I thought already people weren't limiting themselves to using line arrays in applications that truly needed them?

If the time between announcement of their Aviom ripoff and actual availability has been any indicator we won't actually see these until sometime in 2015.

That's entirely possible, though FWIW that personal monitor thing is supposed to ship this month.

In addition to the types of products Uli and crew are churning out, I am shocked at just how MANY new products they have. Outside of the live sound stuff they've got a new home audio range of products, and a ton of instrument related (amps etc) stuff coming out, some branded Behringer, but other stuff branded under "Eurosound" and "Bugera" names.

They've been busy, and it looks like Uli is making some pretty bold moves to try and put the squeeze on competitors.

I expected this year to be interesting, and so far it has been. I have mixed feelings.

Scary indeed. But, equally as interesting. Finally, an entry level line array with decent (looking) rigging, and flexible angles. No fixed bullshit that makes it so when you fly more than 4 boxes, the top one points at the ceiling and the bottom one points straight down. They actually did it right. Whether or not it sounds decent and doesn't blow up is still to be determined, but on paper, it actually doesn't look terrible. Scary.
