X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

Well I have to say the layout, feature set, UI and of course price of the console all look fantastic. Perhaps this product will turn a new leaf for Behringer and gain back some trust it has lost over the years. It appears it already has for some.

Assuming more field reports confirm reliability in the coming months, it looks like the x32 could really dominate the <10k digital mixer market.

re: X32 Discussion

Congrats to this thread, it appears to now be the most replied to and also most viewed thread of all time on SFN outside of the Uli Behringer Q&A which is #1 on views but kind of a special circumstance). That says quite a lot about the interest on X32.

re: X32 Discussion

Appears to be getting quieter now, maybe because we don't want to wear Christian down with too many questions.
I guess a few of us have made the decision and placed the order and have no real need for further information at the moment.
What would be good just now would be an update about the expected delivery situation come the end of july.

That's fine with me Per, I'm just quite busy here. I'm interessed what's up with the delivery situation myself, because I'm thinking of a X32 purchase too. I heard, that Thomann (lager dealer in Germany) postpone the sales date to 13th of August. Don't know, if that's true...but I'm quite confident, that the X32 will come soon.
@John: Just scroll back a few pages, I wrote down nearly all X32 FXs.

BTW: Maybe we will see more pro-gear from Behringer in the near future...just saw this-->

I have ordered it from Thomann, and if they are able to ship by mid august, that's quite good. :)~:)~
I'll just have to download the software and set up everything, like the different performers EQ curves etc. in good time, and then unpack, upload and go when it arrives on my doorstep, no problem at all :)~:)~

re: X32 Discussion

@Christian: You mentioned an alternative card for the X32 for the straight to disk recording. Is this only for straight to disk recording, or has it standard card functionallity as well?

Is it possible to recording 32 tracks on a DAW computer through recordingcard USB, and remote control X32 through remote USB? Can you do this with one computer?

This card will have also normal 32 Track recording ability, but only over USB. Maybe Behringer will add another feature to this card, but I'm not sure, if I'm allowed to tell. So I can't comment on that further.
Concerning your second question. The desk can handle this (it has separate USB ports for recording and remote), but I'm not sure, if the Computer does. If I had to guess, I would say that it works. I can try next friday if you like.

re: X32 Discussion

How does remote control of X32 through remote USB works? Are faders and other controls disabled on X32 then you press remote button on X32, or can they be used simultaneous?
Thinking of having e.g. Meters view up on PC screen most of the time and tweeking something else on X32.

re: X32 Discussion

By now the remote editor software works only over ethernet (it is still in beta), but it is independed to what you are doing on the board. So you could have the meter screen open on the editor, while doing something else on the boad.

re: X32 Discussion

Anybody who know if micpreamp are identical in X32 and S16? Does'nt matter where you plug your signal, you get the same sound. If S16 get down, you can plug signals direct in X32 without changing any eq settings. Just modify input config.
If they are not identical, which is best?

re: X32 Discussion

Last info on releasedate in Sweden are mid/late August. Hard to wait.

In meantime, how are micpreamp and overall sound of X32 compared to other digital desks.
Anyone have a comment on: X32 versus Yamaha 01v96VCM, v02r96VCM, LS9, Presonus Studiolive 24.4.2, Roland M-300 RSS, Tascam DM-3200 etc.
Not a complete review, but any info that places X32 on the map are helpful.

Thomann says: Mid August here in Germany.
It is just my personal opinion, I mixed on all of these bords you mentioned, the X32 rules them all. For me, the Roland M Series has the best sound from your compilation. It's transparency in the top end stands out to me, but the X32 is in the same ballpark. The overall latency of the M-Series is way higher than the X32, and the X32 EQ&Dynamics are also better (less artifacts on short attack times and more flexible). Reverbs on the X32 are the best I ever heard in a digital console, they can even match the Lexicon algos in the Soundcraft Vi Series. But never worked on the high end desks (Venue, Midas XL8 and such), just worked with iLive, M7+PM5D and such.

re: X32 Discussion

Apoogies if this has already been answered.
With regards to the recording card, is this just a 32 recording out, or does it accept incoming audio as well, and is so, is this assignable to the mix/faders, what Im getting at is can the recording card be used as a usb audio interface from a computer for payback of music/effexts etc.
My soundcard has just decided to go u/s, Im using a backup at the moment, I've pretty much made my mind up over the X32, just waiting to play with one when they arrive over here, so it seems pointless spending money on a new USB soundcard if the X32 can do it anyway.
Bizzare that I was not really looking at a new desk, but do need some new/more outboard, the price and features make analoge and racks full of kit a no brainer really!

Yes, i think you could definitively route from the daw to the x32 (virtual soundcheck supported!)....but the interface is firewire, not usb.
Cheers,
Luigi.

EDIT: as christian wrote down, firewire&usb!
