I hope I can help.
how to configure the router and notebook to wirelessly control the mixer via x control.
I have a Belkin router (192.168.2.1) and I could not set it up properly.
thanks

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

Hey Carlos, I saw this same question posted by you in the main thread. Did you get your question answered bud?

The X32's seem to come off the floor pre-configured for 192.168.20.4. So if your router was set to 192.168.20.1 you would be set.

The X32 is easy to change it's network settings though: setup button, network tab.

I hope I can help.

Hi Carlos,

Below are instructions to set up XControl as well as XiControl.

X Control Setup:
1. Download the latest version of Xcontrol from Behringer: DIGITAL MIXER X32.
2. Connect the X32 “Ethernet” jack to a wireless router (for wireless use), or directly to your computer's Ethernet port.
3. Open your computer's Network Settings and connect to the wireless network, or verify your wired Ethernet connection is enabled when using a direct Ethernet connection.
4. On your computer, launch the XControl app and take note of the computer's IP address.
5. On the X32, press the SETUP button and page over to the "network" tab.
6. For IP address use the Computer's IP address noted in step 4 above EXCEPT change the last number. Next set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
7. The gateway field can often be left blank. If using a router, fill it in with the router's' IP address if you are having trouble connecting.
8. On your computer, input the X32's IP address into XControl and click Connect.

Xi Control Setup:
1. Download the Xi Control app for free from the Apple App Store.
2. .Connect the X32 “Ethernet” jack to an available port on a wireless router (NOT the WAN / Internet port).
3. On your iPad, open the Wi-Fi settings and connect to the wireless router.
4. Launch Xi Control and take note of the IP address of your iPad. For this example, let's say it's 192.168.1.2
5. On the X32, press the SETUP button and page over to the "network" tab.
6. For IP address use the iPad's IP address noted in step 4 above EXCEPT change the last number. For this example, try 192.168.1.5
7. Next set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.
8. The gateway field can often be left blank, but fill it in with your router's IP address if you are having trouble.
9. On the iPad, enter the IP address for your X32 and tap connect.

I hope it helps!

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

I just unpacked my x32 compact yesterday so I'm still very fresh with getting around on this mixer. Right now, I'm having a problem getting my x32 and my computer to connect directly without a router (I have not tried a router yet), just a direct line from the computer the x32 for X32Edit. According to the edit software, my computer IPs are 192.168.1.113 and 169.254.70.242. I've assigned the X32 with IP 192.168.1.100 and typed that into the X32 software. No connection. What am I doing wrong?

When the computer shows two addresses, it is because you have two connections. The two might be any combination of LAN, WiFi, VPN. For some reason, the software seems to get confused when more than one network is available, so start with disabling your WiFi or disconnect from the VPN, so only one ip shows up in X32Edit, and then connect again. Check that the X32 address is indeed what you think it is, and make sure you have plugged into the right port.

It is also possible that your computer has a network interface card (NIC) that can not automatically detect that it is directly hooked up and switch send and receive lines. In this case you would need a different Ethernet cable (they are usually yellow) which has the pins for send on one end routed to the receive on the other.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the color of the Cat5 cable makes it any different. I have Cat5 cables that are every shade of the rainbow. What matters is how it is terminated...how you described it with the send and receive lines (AKA a crossover cable).

To expand on Scott's reply, normal Cat5 cables, which is probably what you are using, are terminated with both 568B on both ends, or on rare occasions 568A on both sides (both of which are straight-through cables). To make a cross-over cable (switched send and receive lines) just crimp a cat5 cable so that it is terminated with 568A on one side, and 568B on the other.

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

I initially had similar problems connecting directly to the x32 and found I needed to set up a static network address on my laptop ( haven't tried x control via a router yet though)

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

Thanks for all the sugestions. I've disconnecct the wireless network and that did reduce the IPs down to one for the computer. I tried to connect again and it didn't work.

Nick Davis - How do I change to a static network address? I would like to give that try.

As for getting a special network cable, I'll be buying a wireless router next time get into town so based on comments, I shouldn't need a different cable if going through a router. I guess what I'm saying is that if I'm go to the store to get something, I might as well get a router that'll make everything better instead of buying the direct connect cable. I just wanted to try out the x32 edit this weekend even though I don't have the router yet.

I guess I'll try the static address and if that doesn't work, I'll wait to get a router.

Once again thanks for your help everyone - it's great to see this kind of user support exist on this product.

Denver,
As others have suggested, it is likely that the 192.168 IP address was the IP for your connection to your WiFi Router rather then the connection to the X32. Direct connections from the computer's ethernet port to the X32 ethernet port often end up with the computer showing an IP address starting with 169.254. Did you try assigning an IP address to the X32 that was in this same subnet (for example: 169.254.70.200, when your computer says its IP is 169.254.70.242)? If you still had the X32 set for 192.168.1.100 then it will would not work whether you disabled WiFi or not. If you decide to assign a static IP, you will still need to make sure the X32's IP address has the same first 3 numbers as the computer's static IP for it to work properly. Let us know how you make out!

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

x32 Edit on my Mac is showing 4 networks right now... 1 for WiFi, 1 for wired network, and I think the other 2 are related to Parallels(though I'm not 100% sure of that). As John said the 169.254.x.x network is probably the right one for a direct connection but if that doesn't do the trick try variations of them all only changing the last number to something different from the laptop.

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

John D. - It worked! I just needed to match up all the IP digits except the last three. It even works with the WiFi IP address still in. Thanks for your help everyone.

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

I have a problem I can't seem to find any thread on, but it is related to this. I booted up my brand new X32 Rack and Macbook Pro, connected the Cat5e cable between the two, and navigated to the setup/network tab where the X32 reported it had an IP address of 192.168.20.4 as mentioned above. I then attempted to connect with X32edit on my Macbook, and was told that my console software was not compatible, and needed to be updated. I then updated to 2.06 via the USB drive method. Now when I navigate to the setup/network tab on the X32, the IP address is blank, which it wasn't before. I rebooted everything, unhooked all cables, reset the manual settings in preferences on the Macbook, but the X32 still has no IP address, it's blank. Do I just fill it in myself? None of the procedures I've tried work. Anybody have an idea what I've done wrong?

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

Sorry - I'm so new to this, and I don't really have a lot of experience with the "IP's" and "Subnets" and such. When you say "set a new IP", how do you do this? Just directly type that default one in?

Just follow the steps that Joe Sanborn mentioned before. That's all.
If your router is set to 192.168.2.1, than dail in f.e. 192.168.2.20 on your X32rack under "Setup"-->"network", change the subnetmask to 255.255.255.0. and you should be up an running.

Re: behringer x32 configuration x control

Ok - I have followed Joe Sanborn's instructions above but have a new problem. I can get either my MacBook Pro synced and running (works great!) or my iPad synced and running, but not both. I am using a Apple Extreme Base Station, which I reset to factory defaults and set up a new wireless network. I can get my MacBook Pro synced to the X32 via cat 5 through the Apple Extreme, but the moment I change the settings as above to connect my iPad, the MacBook drops connection. Are there instructions anywhere about how to connect a computer via cat 5 through the router and an iPad wirelessly through the same router? I've searched endlessly today to try and figure this out but haven't found anything that works. Sorry about my newbie-ness!
