The Soundcrafts remote control functionality are not noted for being very robust. That said you may have better luck with the Mixing Station app but even there the Soundcrafts don't get high marks.

In the face of inexplicable problems its never a bad idea to unmate and remate any PCB connectors several times and inspect the board for jumpers or socketed ICs ( very rare these days )

Not a video guy at all but I'm curious if this depends on the type of file that is being feed to the convertor. I do know that compressed files are strongly discouraged in audio playback systems as the computers may not be able to decode fast enough to read the cues.
