2011 LAB / SFN EXPO / SMAART 2-day May 16-19 in MA

Re: 2011 LAB / SFN EXPO / SMAART 2-day May 16-19 in MA

Looking forward to being there. PM me or post if there is anything you would like to see covered during my lighting presentation. I'm also going to have some Chamsys gear with me if anyone is interested in checking that stuff out.

Just updated this post with the latest exhibitors and presenters. Working on two totally kick ass announcements that will make this event a must. Waiting on one more exhibitor to confirm and then I can release the final schedule, but plan on 10-6 Monday and Tuesday. It's going to be a hell of an event this year.

Just in case you've forgotten, here's how much fun we had last year.

Hopefully it's that someone is building a commercial airport in Westminster, MA? Travelling from VA is kindof sucking. Jetblue puts me in Boston for $150, then spend twice that on a rental car to drive an hour.. boo.

Anyone want to split a rental car??

Something like that would be awesome.

Or, if others want to post their ride needs, I could take point on setting up a rental on a mini, full, or 15pas. van if that would be of any help. My preference is to get in Monday morning and depart Thursday evening, but I could be persuaded to get in the night before and leave the morning after if that worked better for others who may be interested in coming in to Boston.

Well, the 5 things that had to fall into place for me to be there just did, so I'm in the process of getting everything sorted out. I'll be flying in saturday so if anyone wants to organize a carpool from the airport, my info is in my sig. Also if anyone would be willing to split a room, I'd be interested.

Tentative Schedule

The only real tentatives are how late we can keep the bar open and the band playing, we may have to end up playing that one by ear.

Please let me know if I've made any mistakes, or if you are a presenter and I didn't give you enough time, and I will update the schedule!

Re: Tentative Schedule

Information for New Attendees:

The cathedral room is the exhibit hall, when there's not a talk happening it's open for hands on time with gear. Monday evening it is also where the bar and the band will be.
The hotel has an excellent restaurant attached, most people take advantage of it for breakfast and dinner.
Lunch will be catered to the cathedral room, last year it was $10/person billable to your room (or cash).
There is excellent hiking nearby.
Everything else is at least a 10 minute drive away.
We are up in the mountains, bring a jacket.

Here are a few photos to give you an idea (I think these are all from year 1).

Re: Attendees and Talks So Far

If I could explain the massive face-on-desk that I just did knowing that I am going to be missing this, I would. I can't wait to hear how this expo goes.
Indeed. Once again I have to miss this event because of gigs. I shouldn't complain, but this expo is far more interesting and useful than the rest.

I mean, frankly, it'd be great just to rub shoulders with you guys and meet some other people outside of the realm of folks I know.

You all seem charming, and maybe even cute.

How to get to the venue or Ride sharing

I'm arriving at boston logan at 12:30 pm sunday. I'd like to avoid renting a car, but would pitch in for one if it makes it easier for all involved to get from the airport to the venue. If i'm not splitting a rental, what is the best way for me to get to the hotel or someplace where it is easy to get a ride to the hotel? When i get to the hotel, I'd be more than willing to help set up.

Re: How to get to the venue or Ride sharing

Assuming I don't pick up a gig on Saturday, 3000lbs of Swedish steel and I will be leaving here indecently early on Sunday morning.
I should be in around noon.
Anybody who needs a ride from the Boston metro area to Westminster can give me a call. (# in signature)

The more people in one location the better.
All I ask is a little fuel money.
