Boots are very important in the sound industry and in the Army. Ive chosen cocoran USA made boots for this deployment, and I am 100% satisfied. They are extremely comfortable, light weight and cool. We had a flash flood here the other day and the boots dried completely over night, in about 4 hours, without any help at all. Ive got hundreds of miles on these boots through sand, rock and mud, they still feel great, and have held up incredibly well. When I clean them or wash them they still look very close to new.

The gig buys our shoes for the show. For the noise and hum dept we have to have steel toes and ANSI electrically safe sole.I got a pair of Timberland Pros Mudsill Low that look like a hiking shoe but fit and feel like sneakers except they are safer and much more durable. I like them so much I got some for me at the race shop. They don't seem to have the exact style I got but it's the same shoe, different color.

That's the same pair I have. The first pair were not wide enough and were killing my feet. I moved up to a wider shoe and couldn't be happier. Lightweight and comfortable.

I love Redwings as well. They are great and very durable. Another brand I have been VERY pleased with is Keen. I have a pair of Keen clogs that I have been wearing in the OR and around the hospital for the last three years. They are very durable and very comfortable. They still look and feel almost new They make a lot of different styles from trail shoes to wellingtons. Based on Bennett's stated preference this pair might work well for him.

I've been wearing low cut Keen slip ons for a few years, and before that, Born slip ons of a similar style, which they don't seem to make anymore. Most comfortable shoes I've worn. I use them even when working, partly because I've got a heel problem that's been aggravated by the last couple of pairs of boots I've owned, as well as some shoes.

That said, I'm going to try some Redwings at a local dealer to see how they feel, and then head to my REI store to check out the Keen boots. After a typical two day weekend gig, one of the more noticeable sore areas on my body are the feet/ankle areas, due to lack of support from a boot. Nothing long lasting, once I've loosened up and walked around it fades away.

Well, I didn't get to the Red Wing dealer as planned, but we were out doing some shopping earlier today at one of the local malls, and stopped in at "The Walking Company" store-my wife gets Dansko clogs there, and I knew they had some of the Ecco line.

I wound up getting the pair of ankle high lightweight boots in the photo. Walked around in the small store with both on for five minutes, and after making the purchase, continued shopping with them on for over an hour.

I'm very satisfied with the fit and feel.

Bonus-they were marked down from the origninal $160.00 to $99.95.

Picked up some Red Wing 406s this afternoon, thanks to all the recommendations. They are awesome, night and day better than anything I've owned before. Found out I did need to be wearing wider shoes after all, and I was probably wearing one half size too large all along. These look like they should last me a good long time.

I found some "Magnum" brand boots at the Sports Authority. I was immediately drawn to them because they had a full height ankle support, yet had zippers on the side for ease of instant on and off. Also, they feature a composite toe that meets or exceeds the ANSI standards for crush resistance. Because they do not have steel in them, they are very lightweight and I've really enjoyed wearing them.

The Magnums are not nearly as expensive as the good ol' Red Wings... but I decided to not bother with having to get Red Wings after my last experience with them where I paid full price for an American made pair and didn't know any better and ended up with Chinese made boots. It kind of pissed me off... I'm sure you can imagine.

Anyhow, I've also had good luck with the pair of CAT boots I bought, though that first day of wearing them for 18 hours was a bit painful getting them broken in.

It looks like you got a nice pair of real American Made Red Wings, which is awesome. It just drives me nuts having to lace them up every time I'm putting them on and unlacing them when I'm taking them off. I've been spoiled by the zippers on my Magnums.

Well, American made with imported materials, which I'm fine with. You pay about $50 more for American made, and another $50 over than for American materials... of course, we're not comparing apples to apples, you're also generally getting a better boot. I decided that the extra $50 for American materials wasn't something I needed, the sole was better but I don't spend much time standing around on concrete so a more cushioned sole wasn't a priority.

Lacing and unlacing is kind of a pain, I'm used to just slipping my shoes on and off, but I guess I'll see how annoyed it makes me in a year or so.
