Here's how great Red Wing shoes customer service is:
I bought my 406s November 28th. They sized me at the store, for a 10.5 EE. I wore only them as my shoes from then to now, went hiking, got them wet, got them muddy, kicked things, and generally treated them like work boots. I noticed that as they broke in my heel began to slip, which was tearing up the boot and my socks. Lacing tighter or more carefully didn't really solve the problem.
Went back to the store today with no receipt, not even the card I bought them on, wearing the boots. After some discussion of the problem I felt I was having, they swapped for a pair in 10 EE no questions asked, and told me to please come back if that didn't solve the problem. These feel even better already, guess I'll break them in and see how well they wear!
