Hamburg, NY.
So Chevy calls me, says they have a great deal on chevy pickups. I own a 2008, ya I'll come in and see what they have to say. They tell me I can buy a new silverado for the price that they were going 15 years ago, wow, what a deal. So the one guy goes out and test drives my 08, bla bla bla. I find a truck identical to mine almost. He tells me around $19,500 out the door for a 2013. I'm like lets do it, then I ask whats my truck worth, he says $15000, so i'm like ya my truck and 4,500 cash, right?? No he says, 19,500 + your truck. So I say thats $34,500, I go thats not what the trucks were going for 15 years ago. F'ing idiot.

Part 2 of this story why chevy has their head up their ass. My current truck is a reg cab 8' box. Was thinking going extended cab with short box as I'm 6'6'' and there is not a lot of room in the reg cab. Low and behold, there is less room in the extended cab, they moved the seat forward 2+ inches, leaving me with a whole 2'' between my knees and the dash.

I hope they get their act together for the new model in 2014

Been driving vans for a long time. The wife has a full sized Chevy Silverado with the crazy doors and rear seating - topper - etc. It's a nice truck if you like trucks. I've been driving Ford vans since 89 and before that it was a dinosaur 68 GMC van. Lately I've been lusting after the new Sprinters. I really like the tall Euro box that allows you to stand up and I really like the way the rear doors stick to the sides out of the way. Try to hold out a little longer - I hear that next year both Ford and Chevy will have some new things out due to mandated safety stuff and they might have the tall Euro style too. Here's a new tall Nissan van/truck that looks interesting too -

Every Chrysler Sprinter I see has noticeable rust. Ran into a guy at my insurance company and he said it runs great but it was quite rusted.

It's not Chevy, it's car salesmen. Did you laugh at him, then tell him you were leaving? One thing they absolutely don't want you to do is walk. They're all whores with no soul. Show 'em no mercy, 'cause they ain't givin' any to you.

Complain to your congressman...

But don't worry it gets better. The government fuel standards are so hard that to meet them Ford is talking about making aluminum PU trucks...

That'll be cheap. At least you'll get good mileage. :-)

John, that's priceless in a Hunter S Thompson sort of way. Imagine Jack Nicholson reading that line...

Ya pretty much laughed, I'll call him back today and see how explains how I'm getting the truck at 15 year old price like he said I would when they called.

Re: Chevy has their head up their butt

I dont know about Cab size but trucks are not shrinking in size. No manufacturer makes a smaller pickup anymore as far as i know. No S-10 no Toyota Pup no Ford Ranger etc. IMO 75% of people driving these big trucks around do not necessitate owning a truck.

The diesel is all that matters and the 6.7 crushes the Duramax even though the specs are the same.

Re: Chevy has their head up their butt

Ford's not going to sell you a new truck for $4500 over your trade-in either.

The real source of laughter here is unrealistic expectations.

re read the original post, see what they said. I know its a joke and unrealistic, but thats what gets on my nerve why say it in the first place. Along with a extended cab designed around small people.

Re: Chevy has their head up their butt

I'll go on to mention that the Nissan salesman mentioned that these particular truck/vans are mounted on a frame unlike the unibody he claims Ford will be going to on the new thing that will also be tall. The Nissan is only gas and the mpg is not very good. The Sprinters have the diesel option and hopefully Ford and Chevy will offer one too. There are pros and cons with frames and unibody but creature comfort is important and so is mpg. My interest is in the tall loading area with doors that stay out of the way. Not sure if any of these have leg room for really tall drivers.
