Core Knowledge?

Re: Core Knowledge?

The problem I'm having now it that I've forgotten how to assign the 8 outputs on the front of the s-16 to what I want on the mixer

I guess that it's time for you to follow Tim's advice, but I'll hold your hand on this one as well

As you have discovered, you get the mains outs through 7&8 when having the S16 set at 2, that is because your mains outs are assigned to 15 & 16, and are output on AES50 channels 15 & 16, and these gets shifted down by 8 when the S16 is set to 2.
The physical outs 1-8 ( and in the case of the Core, the virtual outs) are by default replicated on AES50 1-8. To get something to the S16 outs when it is in mode 1, you need to assign stuff to AES50 1-8. There are two ways to do this, you can either assign your outputs to virtual outs 1-8 in the (ROUTING) analog out tab, or you can reassign the AES50 outs in the appropriate (ROUTING) AES50 tab (A or B depending on which AES50 your S16 is connected to).
In the (ROUTING) analog out tab, outputs 1-14 are by default assigned to the buses and 15-16 are assigned to main outs. Assign output 7-8 to main L-R and you will have sound.

Re: Core Knowledge?

Well, I'll keep it right here thank you. Doesn't seem to be much activity over there & I've gotten a lot of help here.....
I think that what Robert is saying is that if you want this kind of help, we might not continue to give you the help on this forum, and there is certainly a lot of activity on the other forum. It is up to you, Soundforums is not a user support forum for Behringer, if you want this kind of support, go to the right place.

Re: Core Knowledge?

What I tried(?) to say is that many people who would like to learn about this type of information being discussed here is more likley to look/search in the dedicated x32-forum hosted by behringer.

By asking the questions over there you help that community to grow and expand upon its information base and others will benefit from your efforts.

Per, myself and a couple of others from soundforums (plus some very clever guys not participating here on soundforums) are helping out on the behringer forum as well, so most likley almost the same persons that are helping you here would have helped you there.

The only 'issue' is that it takes five approved posts before you can post smoothly.

While soundforums is a great place to be at, your post will drown in its inherent noise and will become difficult for others to pickup.

Re: Core Knowledge?

Hello Lance,

I am happy to see that you are digging into the X32 CORE and the both Per and Robert are helping you out. Are you familiar with the new X32 Wiki which was recently published? You can find the full manuals for all of the X32 units at X32 Digital Mixer Wiki , and if you feel that there is something which you have learned that is not on the wiki, you can register and post your comments of information you would like to see added. Between SoundForums, the BEHRINGER community forums and the X32 Wiki, I believe that you can get all of your questions about the Core answered.

As always, let any of us know how we can help.

Re: Core Knowledge?

You know, I belong to and support many other forums like this on other subjects where people don't mind answering sometimes "elementary" questions. The manual's for these products are pathetic at best, especially for the core which is quite a bit different than the console. If you want to be a know it all douchebag & belittle a 48 year old man that's trying to get ready for a gig on short notice, then you can go fuck yourselves & stay out of this thread.....

Touchy, are we? My hand holding comment was tongue-in-cheek as indicated by the smiley, but with a hint of truth in it as well. I'm 54, so your age comment doesn't hit very hard, but I'll stay away from your topic from now on.

And fwiw, I am a member of & have read pretty much everything over there & there is VERY little "core talk" going on......

There would be more "Core talk" if you bothered to post over there.

If I could do what you suggest, I'd have a career to rival Ron Jeremy... ;)

Nope, Lance, the deal is that if you sat down with your mixer & S16 and the S16 manual, you'd have this figured out before the "turn cycle" of the forum and you'd probably remember it better because of the process and effort you went to (kind of like making a shopping list, leaving it at home and still remembering the list contents when you get to the store).

The Core's configuration is not different than any other X32, sans local i/o. You *can* do this.
