2.9 isn't all that outrageous compared to comparable stuff. Many digital wireless systems have 4 ms.
Our Digital Hybrid stuff is about the same price/channel as the Shure ULX-D, and is about the same latency (3.0 ms).
Our older 700 Series encrypted stuff (discontinued) was more expensive, but had 2.0 ms latency.
Quadra and D4 are more expensive and specialized, to be sure, but have 0.95 ms latency with analog ins/outs.
