Some Galien Kruger amps have an extremely hot direct out. I use a Shure A15AS inline pad when working with boards that can't handle it(ex Mackie). It has adjustable attenuation of -15, -20, or -25 dB.

Interesting. Do you find some advantage with such fine control of the attenuation vs a fixed 20dB pad?

No, I was just pointing out that it has that feature. It doesn't matter much for my use. I just leave it at 20.
