So what became of your search for the low notes? Did you get to demo the Danley product? There are a few of the "21 Sub Engines" somewhere in New York but very few Chimera 21's out in the wild. You would probably have to spend a day in St. Pete FL to hear them.
The TH118 came, consensus was the single TH118 kept up with 4 2x18 "subs". Planning on a pair. I got 10dB more output @ 40 and 15 dB more @ 30 than the house boxes, and this was with a 24dB/octave L-R filter low pass @ 75 to match amplitude @ 100 of the current boxes. High pass @ 25Hz, 24db/octave L-R. Very clean, low, and loud in a small package.

Did you take any measurements?
I think there are a good number in various churches in Fla. The only sound "company" I am aware of is sound scapes- Langston Hollands company. He has 8 and does some pretty large outdoor shows with just the 8.Very nice Somebody please warn me when one of these things comes rumbling through my area! Unfortunately I've never seen any Danley product anywhere - although I have to admit that I live under a pretty big rock down here. So if there are any sound companies that do public events in my area please try to remember to notify me when these beasts will be out in the wild - thanks.
Ivan has Danley given any thought to a TH121? Not half of a TH221 but something with a higher 30hz corner?
You hit the nail on the head. It is not so much the tool-but the job that needs to be done-ie the design target.I can't speak for Danley, but I'd be surprised if it hadn't crossed their mind.
In general, Danley makes subs based on output and low frequency corner, with many other variables thrown in; they don't focus on driver diameter like many others do. Thus, rather than start with a single 21" (or whatever), I'm betting they start with "xxx dB SPL down to xx Hz in _________ form factor/dimensions". Sometimes it happens to utilize one or more 21" drivers, sometimes 18", sometimes 12", etc. Since there is no single 21", it's a reasonable bet that the size/output/corner/etc is better suited to some other quantity of some other driver size. Ivan will probably chime in, this is just my educated guess.
