well, he had great mic technique

Re: well, he had great mic technique

Where's the damned like button around here Bennett......You summed it up perfectly.

On another note, does this mean I don't have to take my shoes off at the airport anymore??????

Re: well, he had great mic technique

Kudos to our military personnel, but we haven't "won" shit. We are so effective at terrorizing ourselves we have forgotten to live our lives.

Absolutely. It's easier to kill someone than to capture him and fear what he might say in a trial. And I bet there's nothing easing the DIY terror of the western world.

I'm certain this will have no immediate lessening of fear; in fact I predict forecasts of retribution attacks by breakfast time. Expect new "security" measures at airports and large gathering places...

No kidding.... I fly very seldom... and just so happens I'll be flying in 2 weeks. Sounds like bundles of fun for me. Is it illegal to fly in flip flops, gym shorts and a "wife-beater"? Just trying to make it easy on myself....

"If the 9/11 attacks were Al Qaeda's response to a perceived wrong committed by the US against them, let's take a second to think about the possible repercussions now that the US is actually responsible for the death of their leader, and on top of that, is in possession of his body, thus making it impossible for them to honor him with all of their religious death traditions. Re: America F**k YEAH!!!

Let's spend a few moments to think about root cause and how to make this place better for the next generations (of all nations).

Unfortunately, I think the root cause is a culture based on warlordism for its entire recorded history. I am not sure we can do anything to change that nor am I convinced we should even try.

Christian, there was never any intention of taking him hostage and trying him.
His declaration against the US had pretty much sealed his fate.

I don't know what he would have said at his trial that he had not already said in his videos.
His stance was pretty well known.

Hello Jay
To the first part, remember that bin Laden has over 50 brothers and sisters. None who have tried to take on the west, many (or most) who live in the west. To my limited knowledge he had broken ties with all of them, to pursue this ideology. So to blame the culture is akin to condemning the unibombers siblings.

To say there is not cultural differences would be naive of me. To say thats what shaped him is I think disingenuous.

To the second part, I agree that the last thing we want to do is to try and Americanize the rest of the world.
I am for helping people shed oppression, but not to nation build, or say do as we do.

Our meddling always leads to blow back, and usually resentment, and not unusually things being worse off than before. EG, Iran.

The US buried him at sea, so his is not in possession.
This is a tactic dating back thousands of years to give less chance for followers to have a place to gather in homage, and let momentum for his passing get any traction. Most recently used to dispose of Nazi war criminals, (less successful with Hitler himself as his cremation was somewhat botched) to prevent an uprising of neonazis, or a rallying place.
