What sub should I get?

Re: What sub should I get?

The problem with the 107 is that it is discontinued and nowhere to be had, and like anything that is popular, you hardly ever see people selling it off. That leaves the lucky break or the MaxxBCL or running the plugin on a processor card like the Yamaha WSG-Y16 or a soundgrid processor.
While a MaxxBass can move the bass signal into frequencies that fit the working range of mains speakers, you still need lots of power to get any punch. Running MaxxBass on subs can be a good alternative because you reduce the risk of blowing the subs with over-excursion, and you often get higher efficiency in the working range that the Maxxbass wil put the signal, particularly with front-loaded and horn-loaded subs. I've heard the Maxxbass with a stack of Cerwin Vega horns, and it sounded bloody fantastic because the bass was moved into the frequencies where the horns are really efficient ( around 112dB/1w1m).
