X32 and outboard rack....anyone use one

Re: X32 and outboard rack....anyone use one

Yes
Outputs for hi mid low in matrix at board but outputs for amps at stagebox
Just curious

Yes. Any output source can be routed to to AES50. IIRC that has to be allocated in a block of 8 outouts, though. I'm not in front of an X32 at the moment, though, and can't confirm it.

So can we hook up a anolog crossover at the FOH X32 and use the eithernet to the stagebox for the xover plugins or do we have to use a snake

Yes, you can plug the output of the x-over in the XLR or jack inputs of the X32 and route them directly over AES50 to a remote S16/X32rack/... (without eating up input channels or busses). I grabbed a picture from the internet: in the right columns you can see that the local inputs can be sent directly over AES50.

Though, I would use the internal matrix x-overs... The probability that you make a wiring error is even bigger this way than when using the internal x-overs. If you want to make things fool proof, the x-overs should be in the amp racks with wiring inaccessible and UI password locked ;-)

Not sure if you can make a mid output from the matrix.
Just a simple sub top combo is no problem, I do it from time to time, but in these cases the top won't blow if it gets full range...
I wouldn't use it for a real 3 way system.

Yes, you can create a midrange crossover in the matrix channels by putting both a high pass and a low pass filter on the system.

Sorry someone correct me, but to be honest I think you're wrong.
In that picture, on that tab of AES50-b you set the signals going to the b connector, so to a X32P as indicated above, with the green (led) dot in front.

So AES50 B outputs 1-8 gets it's source from AES50 A1-8, that means that these signals pass from the A input directly to the B output, with a S16 connected this means channel 1-8 of the S16 is passed through to the second X32.

Same for Outputs 9-16

Outputs 17-24 and 25-32 are set to A17-24 and A25-32, in case of 2 times S16 these are channel 1-16 of the last S16 in the row. (But from that picture it's not for sure that a second S16 is connected)

Outputs 33-40 are set to Local 1-8,
Outputs 41-48 are set to Local 9-16.
I'm quite sure that these are no local inputs but the local outputs, as set on the out1-16 tab.
I could check it, but my X32's are stored...

xlr out has been added in newer firmware versions, and they can be routed from local out1-16, (As was by default the case) but also from other sources, so the XLR outputs on the console are not binded to that console but can have it's source also from the AES50. So you can output a signal send from the monitor console on the FOH position, without needing it to route through the inputs of the board. I hope this does make sense.

The picture https://musicgroup-prod.mindtouch.u...?size=bestfit&width=450&height=278&revision=1 shows that you CAN route any of the inputs directly to AES50 (in pairs of 8). In case of the picture an X32P is connected to AES50 B, but it could also be an S16 or whatever. I'm sure these are the local INPUTS. (For the outputs you have to scroll down in the lists: http://behringerwiki.music-group.co...outputrouting.png/550px-S16_outputrouting.png ...)

Seeing this I think you're right, is this also added in the newer firmware versions? Never noticed it.
In this case level follows the gain settings, set for these channels somehow (assigned channel).

Using the aux inputs is then the easiest way I think, if you don't want to change level/gain.

You can set the gain of (unassigned) local inputs separately from the remote preamps via SETUP-->PREAMPS.
