X32 - Uli please consider the recording crowd

Re: X32 - Uli please consider the recording crowd

I do not think it would work for what he asked about. Both consoles would be the monitor consoles. Console 1 would be analogue inputs 1-32 and console 2 would be analogue inputs 33-64. How do you link the 16 outputs (output would be from either console, not both)? The only way I could find is what Brian Maddox recommended, burn some inputs on console 2. So it would not be 64 inputs. I would be 64-(inputs from console 1)=X.

Did I, and Brian, miss something in the set-up? Would this work if an S16 was involved? Or just not possible at the present time.

There is a possibility that you can utilize S16's to help with switching of what inputs you want available during a show. Utilizing scenes, you can select which inputs are routed from where. There is still a limit to the 32 or so inputs that any one mixer can "look" at. (routing page, home screen and then each channel's Preamp / config page)

Feel free to PM me and we can explore some options.

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce myself. I am Dennie Edwards, a USA BEHRINGER Product Specialist. I am located in Louisiana and focus mostly on the South Eastern 12 states of the country.

While "printing to tape" is a very subjective subject, I wanted to let everyone know that there is a way to do this on the X 32, if desired.

On the Routing Menu, there is a CARD OUT page. There you can choose what sources feed your computer's DAW. You can select the OUT 1-8 or OUT 9-16 options. Whatever you have chosen to be sources for the Analog Outputs, can now also be routed to the X UF Card. Also, you can select P 16 1-8 and P 16 9-16 as well. In this way, you can route up to 32 different audio signals to your card that can be Pre, Post, routed to Mix Busses, Mix Matrix, etc.

If you need any clarification, you can PM me anytime.

Re: X32 - Uli please consider the recording crowd

Gabriel,

The easiest way to do this is to follow these steps.

Press the ROUTING button, then page over to the P16 Tab. Select a P 16 Digital Output Channel of your choosing, then scroll through the Output Signal list to select the Direct Out channel that you wish to route to your CARD / SONAR. Then, on the right column, select the TAP point, Post Fader.

Finally, using the page buttons again, select the CARD tab. Now select the group of output sources you wish to send to your card. P 16 1-8, etc.

To get full 32 channel, POST sources to your DAW, my suggestion is to use the following sources;
P-16 1-8
P 16 9-16
Out 1-8
Out 9-16

If you have any further questions, feel free to let me know.

Re: X32 - Uli please consider the recording crowd

Guys, let's not forget how & what we record is sometimes dictated by a creative decision in the Studio and sometimes it's forced upon us in a Live recording situation!
As much as I agree that 95% of the time in the Studio you would want to record as unprocessed as possible there are occasions where I defiantly want to print a track with compression or whatever, these occasions are when it's a creative decision, you actually like/prefer the sound processed as is, print it & move on. Being brought up on tape I have no problem printing something if that's the sound I want! Also in a "Live" recording situation you "may" sometimes want to print a little compression on a Bass Gtr or Kick Drum especially on a board with no "pads" on the Ch's etc!

I think it would be useful to have a choice of tap'ng Pre or post processors even though most of the time I would never want to do that myself but there is certainly nothing "wrong" with having or using that as an option!
Cheers

Thanks Dennie,
What a good idea. I'd still like to be able to select the tap point in the firmware but that is a good temporary workaround.
Thankyou for the input
