X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi

Re: X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi (revived)

Hi Phil,

Please define what you mean by "cannot get more than one device". What kind of device?

Thanks,
Dan

I can connect my single ipad, but I cannot connect someone else's ipad or iPhone as well. I've had about 5 different people/devices try to connect but they haven't been able to figure out why they couldn't connect.

I believe it also has been the case that I have disconnected my ipad and used the same exact settings on someone's else's ipad and I still have not been able to get theirs to connect.

Make sure than any MAC Address security filtering is turned off. It sounds like at some point you limited access to the wifi to just your ipad.

Re: X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi (revived)

We use OpenMesh wifi routers in our church. We have five of them. They have a guest firewalled network and an inside LAN. Call me crazy but I just jack our soundboard right into our building LAN. Someone that has access to our internal network would have to download the APP and then connect to the static IP address to get to the board. I may ultimately isolate it but for now with 4 campuses I have a need to get to the board remotely via VPN from time to time to assist our less technical folks. Because of the guest firewall the genpop can't get to the board.

Is this something that I would look for in the router settings when I hook it up to my Mac? I know at the beginning I hooked it to my Mac to configure the router.

(I apologize as networking is very much one of my weak points...)

Re: X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi (revived)

Hey all,

I figured instead if starting a whole "X32" thread I'd pose my problem here.

I'm using an Airport Express, not the newest version, but the one right before it. Once I set my ipad to a static IP I've had no problem getting my ipad to connect. The issue is I cannot get more than one device to connect via the Airport express no matter what I do. Any thoughts on why this might be?

Thanks!
Phil
There are session limits that can be set in the router.

Stupid question phil, but you are incrementing the last address number for each device yes? Example 192.168.0.101(device 1). 102 on device 2, etc....
Also make sure you are using a static address setting in setup
Those are the two "gotchas" i can think of...

Yeah, we have been incrementing the IP addres for each device and using a static IP. The latter is actually how I finally got mine to work with it.

I bet it does have to do with some setting on the router. I'll have to take a peak next week when I'm home.

Thanks all for the tips so far!

Is DHCP still enabled in your router? If so, your manually set addresses may be inside the DHCP pool which will cause a connectivity conflict for devices trying to connect to the network. Either disable DHCP or leave it on set your manual IPs outside the range of your DHCP pool, or decrease the size of your DHCP pool.

Phil,

Feel free to give me a call. I might be able to find time in the next few days to come out and take a look for you.

Re: X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi

Im new to the forum ,and hope this is the right place to ask this question. If not please forgive me and send me to the right place.

I have the x32 Behringer board and ipad app. Running version 1.15 firmware in the board. I updated my ipad to the new 2.04 version and it wont work with the older firmware in
the board. Is there somewhere to download the older ipad app version ? Does anyone have a copy maybe? I don't want to upgrade the firmware of the board itself yet as the new version has some issues yet.
Thank you

It it's not in iTunes app store, then no you can't.

Update your mixer. So far the only "issue" I see is the FX Slot 1/Vintage Room thing.

Seconded.

The other "issue" is that the RTA doesn't display in the iPad, but that's a non-issue for Kirk, since he's on 1.15 on the console.

Kirk, why *wouldn't* you update your mixer?

And did Phil fix his problem?

The iPad refuses to connect. The reason I don't want to update the mixer yet,,,being new to the mixer I'm not sure how tO save the scenes. I know I did it and put it into the X mix 32 for my laptop and it worked correctly. I guess I'm just afraid after it releases and my settings I will have not saved the scenes correctly to the usb stick and be scrEwed. I'm really just learning the board so,,,bare with me.

Re: X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi

There is an export menu to usb but it looks like to me it just saves the library and the FX. I really need to be sure I have a good copy to restore back into the board before I update it.

Re: X32 - XControl, Routers and WiFi

I bought a Asus RT-AC66U

I only use this for the X32. The connection looks very stable. However everytime I try to log on this network with the ipad, I get:

You failed to access to the web page that you want to view.

Turn on the WAN, is one of the solutions they provide.

But off course I don't want a wan connection.
First time I press cancel.
Then it does connect to a known network, if I try it again, I get:
This Wi-Fi network is not connected to the internet.
Use without internet
Use another network.

I select Use without internet and then it does work ok.

How can I get rid of this message?

I searched the web, but it looks like everybody else wants connection to the internet...

I had the same issue. Using it in another mode won't help me because I want to use DHCP for instance. it is annoying that this router offers no official way to disable the WAN check.

then I found a soltion on the net which fixed this issue for me. I don't remember it exactly but you have to go to the tools menue, open the commandline console and then enter a certain command. As far as I remember it is

nvram set web_redirect=0
nvram commit

I found this discussion on the net: https://vip.asus.com/forum/view.asp...63&board_id=11&model=DSL-N55U&page=1&count=11

Now, after that tweak, I am fully satisfied by the router. I use it everytime I am out on the streets for remote control of several digital consoles and no problems so far.

Klaus,

Thank you so much! This has been driving me crazy as well!

Took me long time to find time to investigate a bit further.

I used also:
https://moeffju.net/blog/disable-asus-rt-n66u-error-redirect

First enable telnet in the asus router.

The "difficult" part was that I'm not familiar with telnet...

This is what I found:
open prompt in windows.
telnet [ENTER]
o 192.168.1.1 [ENTER] (ip adres router, o= de letter o)
login: admin, psw admin (default login and psw)
nvram get web_redirect [ENTER]
By default you will get: 3
nvram set web_redirect=0 [ENTER]
nvram commit [ENTER]

If you want to check you can again execute a get web_redirect, if you get a 0 back then all should be ok.
I tried it even after a reboot.
The asus is still displaying you're not connected to the internet, but only one time, this way it does feel a lot better.
