Yes ''TJ'' is my real name.

Okay, that comment coupled with your sig line made my irony tingle. Thanks for that.... :)

re: X32 Discussion

The mind boggles. John explained that Behringer makes there own Faders (which are replaceable individually if & when one goes down) This was a significant saving for them which helped keep the cost down (when they started designing the X32 they thought it would be in the $5/6k range so kudos too them for bringing it in under $3k.

Pretty much every mixer ever made (ignoring the Alesis 1622) have replaceable faders.

The motorized faders could be the most expensive single line item on the BOM for that product. Looks like a good place to carve out some cost and gain a competitive advantage.

I looked at tooling up my own faders a while back and decided the cost/benefit was not justified (for my numbers). For a high volume product with that many flying faders, the math looks a lot more attractive (what could possibly go wrong :) ).

re: X32 Discussion

This may be a dumb question but can you assign the AES/EBU output as the main output? That way it would remain digital going into my processor (EV DC One) and skip the d/a and a/d conversion?

Thanks

Yes, probably already is by default, but haven't been able to verify that.

re: X32 Discussion

Has anyone come across North American case makers for the X32? I have seen ones in the EU..... and any info re timeline for Behringer to ship their own road case? (this was confirmed a while back).

I ordered one from here: ATA Road Cases | Custom Cases | Flight Cases | RoadCasesUSA

Got the
Level 4 - Airliner Series with Heavy Duty Hardware and Wheels

Was $300 I believe with shipping included. US made, seems sturdy, nice hardware / casters / handles. I just gave them the dimensions from the quick start guide, which are also in the prelim manual. 35.4 x 20.8 x 7.9" / 900 x 528 x 200 mm

re: X32 Discussion

FYI - Guitar Center now shows the X32 as in stock in the US - not at the retail stores, but in the warehouse. I called, had them confirm that they indeed showed in stock, and promptly ordered one. Now, let's see if it ships in the next day or so :)

YES! I had preordered one, and last night I got a tracking number for my X32. It's on it's way to the store where I will pick it up! I think Guitar Center is one of the first chains to actually get this board in stock. Can't wait to get it!

re: X32 Discussion

Hi all!

I just had an interesting conversation with a helpful sales guy at dv247.com. Here's the bullets from him:

  • They don't have it in stock.
  • They called their supplier yesterday to enquire when deliveries are coming in.
  • There is no delivery date.
  • Rumour in the UK is "three to four MONTHS before the supplier can deliver."
  • The retailer wants to be as competitve on price as possible, so the recent price hike is due to a similar price hike by the supplier which may or may not be a result of Behringer raising the price.

So there you go. :)~:)~

I'm #1 on dv247's pre-order list and they can't give me a date. If Uli doesn't start delivering these sharpish - in time for the autumn run of gigs I would say - then 1000's of pre-orders are going to turning into 1000's of pre-cancellations :x~:-x~

I suspect for Behringer, it makes more sense to hit the market that they'll make most money from quickly, to recoup R&D costs.

The evidence:

The UK is tiny compared to the US. This console is coming from China in boats. It's now in stock in the US and Thomann (which is in Behringers home country) lists delivery date as 10th September 2012. DV247.com say 3 to 4 months. The UK may not be last, but it's looking way down the ladder.

Just got the tracking IDs from Thomann.
Let's wait and see how fast UPS delivers ...

Congratulations! I'm waiting for my tracking number from Guitar Center (US), which should be generated tonight. Once it actually leaves Kansas City (point of origin), I estimate 3-4 days to get here. Mid-next week is what I'm thinking. I sure hope that folks who do start getting them can come back and provide some feedback in the forum, ala Christian-style (thanks, man!!), instead of vanishing into a technical haze.... I'll surely try to come back and provide some feedback to the folks here, as a good-karma thanks to Christian. My job has me on the road at least 3 weeks out of every 4, and that's changing - next week is my last week on the road, then 3 weeks at home. Looking forward to some long evenings (after work) to learn (play with) the new hardware.
