X32 Discussion

re: X32 Discussion

Well my console should be on its way to the UK on Monday :D~:-D~

Thanks,

Kev

Did you buy it in the UK? I ordered a while ago from one retailer and they've not even bothered to reply to an email I sent on last week asking for an update on arrival date... we're way past the date they were advertising when I pre-ordered.
Thanks, alan

I pre ordered one from studiospares quite a while ago (no 3 on there pre order list) back when the price was £1800. They didn't bother to tell me the price went up by £300 , didnt answer any emails asking if I was getting it for the price it was when I ordered it or tell me when I could expect it !! So I cancelled the order and placed it with Thomann ( bundled with a case ) that work out cheaper as well . I've already received the flight case two weeks ago and can't wait to get the mixer. I just check on Thomanns site and the stock has now changed to 'Available a short notice'.

I emailed Thomann last week and they confirmed its on schedule for shipping on Monday.

If you want one quicker Key Music - De grootste muziekwinkel van België! Voor muzikanten, door muzikanten. has them in stock now, and I bet Thomann will have some left over on Monday .

Has anyone still got one on pre-order with DV247? I read a post somewhere regarding containers hitting Europe including Germany & the UK on or around Sept 10th. However DV247 say there's no sign of any consoles yet. Hmmm

re: X32 Discussion

Have you called the customer care centre?

Sent from my iPad HD

I shall contact them today to ask what the best procedure would be. I also got an offer from Uli Behringer himself to come to Düsseldorf so they can fix it on the spot and I could also meet the engineers. :D I live a 130km from Düsseldorf to maybe I'll take him up on his offer...

Do it...it's worth the travel!

BTW: Yesterday I met with Tobi and we went to a band rehearsal with our two X32. We will mix this band tomorrow. Tobi will do monitors and I take care for the foh. Tobi just got his desk some days ago and it was nice to see, how quick and secure he was flying through his eight monitor mixes. All mike inputs from the band went into Tobis monitor desk, I hooked up my board via AES50 (one CAT5 cable) as slave, so we didn't need any S-16 for this. My main mix is routed through Tobi's outputs 15&16. In addition, I could also send my Talkback mic to his board. Quite cool and works like a charm! I recorded some songs of the rehearsal on the USB stick and played them back, as the band was taking a break. They were quite impressed by the overall sound and the ease of use. I will post some pictures of the gig, when it's done. We could share the general settings for" how to setup up the boards as Monitor&FoH desk", if someone likes to know.

Have a great weekend!
Christian

re: X32 Discussion

Hello,
I also have the problem with noise on channel 16, so the best would be to contact Thomann I think.

Because I'm new to digital consoles and don't have much experience with effects I wanted to ask you if you could share some tips about the use of effects, especially for drums and vocals. I know that there is not the "one and only" effect for an instrument, but perhaps you can say, effect xy sounds good for drums, etc...

Thanks, Andreas

I didn't want to name the supplier on an open forum but since they've already been mentioned... I ordered from studiospares. I am still totally in the dark about when the mixer will arrive. No resp once to email.

My guess is that hey know there is enough demand to sell all their desks at the new higher price. Consequently they are happy for those of us who ordered early (at the lower price) to cancel and buy elsewhere.

This is a problem for me as I had to go through a lot of work to get he funding approved for our desk and radio mic upgrades. Going back and asking for another £300 would be very difficult.

The original date given would have allowed me to train all our sound ops so they were ready for the big Christmas church services. There's no way I can have them ready if he desk arrives at he latest date given on Studiospares web site (12th December).

Due to the funding issue I can't easily go to thomann. If there's any supplier out there that's willing to match the preorder price then that would work.

I have never been given a date as late as December for delivery. I've been told that my pre-order price stands, having left a deposit and rightly so. But I understand you're situation and that is certainly a tricky one. The price hike is more than 15% and if demand is high, they're unlikely to discount. Out of all the suppliers I spoke to before pre-ordering, DV were most helpful so maybe a call to them could be worthwhile?

re: X32 Discussion

To my mind it seems rather redundant to buy stage boxes when you have 32 pre amps in the back of the desk.

I know I'm getting into Roland/GLD territory here but here goes...

Why not introduce a second console exactly the same, except only have 8 mic pres and 8 line ins and 8 line out.. Then increase the processing count to 48x24, connect 2 stage boxes and everybody wins.

The x16 could then have 16 pres with 4 line and 8 outs to save space and use a stage box for the other 16+8. Would replace many a mix wizard or studio live with that combo.

Being able to stereo assign a single fader would also be very handy!

Just my thoughts!

Remember many churches have their analog cables all set up on the stage and don't want to incurr more cost and routing my going digital.

Also people like myself want the X32 for studio use and want the pre's.

They didn't take a deposit , just preauthorised my debit card.

I would guess that the new price is what they will want to charge you. Hopefully I am wrong.

According to behringer a container load is on its way to the uk distributors (electro vision and dv247) this month. So I don't know where studiospares get December from.

re: X32 Discussion

Hey guys, I have the same problem in South Africa. I've pre-ordered last year Nov and paid a deposit to secure the order and the price at the time. They also increased the price and they say it's going to take another two weeks to land here ??? It's really frustrating... And the worst is, there is only one importer for Behringer here, and to order from Thomann will cost me more for the import costs.... :-(

Absolutely. The desk as it stands is the perfect drop in replacement for an analogue console, at a price much cheaper than a comparable analogue console and outboard.

Please dont think for a second that i am knocking the pre's on the back. I think there is room in the market for the current version for those who want to replace an analogue console, as well as more of a control surface option for those that want stage boxes. My point is that having BOTH and only being able to use half of those inputs is the redundant and cost prohibitive part of the equation.

I have several church installations in mind for this console to do just that.

But for those who do not have an existing copper network to patch into and dont want to incurr the expense of multicores, not to mention the time and effort in lugging the things around, having two sets of pre amps means paying for something that you do not need or want. Cutting holes cost money, filling them costs more, then having the A/D converters to deal with it even more so.

Moving those pre's to outboard rather than on board will save on manufacturing cost, lowering the price point, decreasing the weight and making the entire package more enticing to the user who wants that modular system.

re: X32 Discussion

By the way - ages ago you were uncertain about getting one until you had a detailed manual / demo desk to try - have you bitten the bullet! If not and you want to try one out first in action - hopefully I should have one pretty soon.

Not bitten the bullet yet. I gave up on trying to find UK suppliers with half a brain because they all seem fairly anti-Behringer to me. I'm waiting for Thomann to get them in stock, then I'm going to order one with a case. I've got the funds lined up. I just don't believe in putting them in someone elses account until they're ready to supply me with the products. Cash flow is king.

Your offer of a demo is really kind and totally unexpected. I'll PM you. Thanks. :)~:)~

I also got a PM from Uli right after my post with the offer to come to Willich (just 70km for me) with my board. After a few mails I made an appointment with the Behringer guys, they will fix the noise problem and I can talk with them and Jan Duwe about the X32.
So all I can say is wow and thank you Behrigner team for the great support!

To all UK users awaiting stock of the X32. Uli has spoken to me regarding distribution and I've now had confirmation from the distributor that stock will be with them on the 18th September. So for those who have early pre-orders with DV247, there is hope a console might be reaching you not long after this date. So Andrew, it could be worth talking to DV247 to see if they've any 'stock' left of their first shipment of X32s?

re: X32 Discussion

I'd take them up, 70km, 130km.

My nearest city with music stores is 280km away. I probably go once every 6 weeks or so...

But then that's 280km of pretty much open road. Takes me about 2.5 hours. I imagine 130km through Europe is a different matter....

You might be right, but I think I'll go with Thomann. After all, they do offer a significant saving with the X32 flight case bundle and their delivery system is top notch. Thanks for the info. :)~:)~

PS I'm beginning to feel like I'm the only one on this forum that hasn't bought an X32 now! I'm feeling lonely!

I'm willing to give Studiospares the benefit of the doubt, they've been good in the past. If the console doesn't arrive this month and they don't respond to my email then I'll have to go elsewhere. I've not had a bad experience with them before.

My situation is that the money was budgeted for and we paid in full at the old price. I'd be very upset if they didn't honor the sale.

The news of containers arriving in the UK and a report of one person in the UK already receiving an X32 (from a UK supplier) (see blue-room forum post) gives me some hope.

Thanks,
Alan
