Re: Cable from X32 to S16

The only difference between the all-in-one cables and any other snake assembly is the overall jacket, which would offer more protection to the components within than a bundle of individual cables taped together would have.

Agreed, though, that a bundle could be unbundled if the damage was only to one component which could then be replaced. What are the chances of that?

Which is better (ignoring the part where one long cable turns into two short ones):

--a single cable that is easily assembled and pretty to look at, but which would be valueless if any component part were damaged, or
--a bundle that is a hassle to build and unattractive to look at, but which could sustain sufficient damage that the whole thing could be valueless or maybe not be damaged that bad so that parts are salvageable?

And also assuming that the damage to either snake is going to mess up that show and at best require moving FOH to the stage.

All speculation, and different people will come to different conclusions.

Re: P16-M - Cannot read the pot & button labels!

Hi
All of the lettering on Mine look way less 'white' than yours. If mine were like that I'd have no complaints. Anyway - It was just a suggestion. I have printed up new labels and stuck them all over the units - they look like crap but are now readable. I'll pull my head in from here on and try not to expect too much .

Thanks
Pauly

Our worship group uses these in dim lighting with no problem. Once it's initially set up, you pretty much are only tweaking a couple of knobs. Add to that the labels I have made & we have no complaints. Especially considering the price difference between these & the others. Geez, what do you expect for just over $200.00?

Re: P16-M - Cannot read the pot & button labels!

Exactly! Thanks for the level head :)

Pauly

I have never seen one in real life, so I have no idea what the readability is, and maybe the original poster is having unrealistic expectations about readability in low light.
However, if there is room for improvement by selecting a brighter print colour and/or using slightly bigger lettering, such an improvement doesn't cost anything (except for slight retooling costs) and would have cost nothing if it was implemented in the original design whether the product cost $20 or $2000. If there is no room for improvement except by making a back-lit facia, then obviously cost comes into it, you get new reliability issues with a more complicated design etc. etc.

iPad App update

What's the deal with the iPad app update Uli promised earlier? He said 1-2 weeks for Apple's approval process but it's closer to 3 weeks now. The wait is endless! I'm sure Apple's taking their sweet time.

Re: Cable from X32 to S16

<snip> All speculation, and different people will come to different conclusions.

I'm afraid my conclusion would be influenced greatly by the cost of an all-in-one cable, I can't imagine that a 50m all-in-one cable is going to come in at a price that will have me jumping up and down with excitement.

Apple's authorisation process is notoriously hand-wavy, with some apps getting the OK quickly, and others being delayed and even knocked-back for no real reason. Given the complexity of the app and the submission date, I wouldn't hold my breath.

That said, I'm sure that as soon as I hit post, it will end up in my update list. Let's see...

...Unless Behringer starts to manufacture these "in a cost effective way"... :)~:)~

At the moment I have fallen in love with the ease of handling the CAT cable. Going back to a stiff all-in-one is not attractive at all... and the fact that for example the Sommer Cable Monocat Power costs 14€/meter is another factor against it.

Re: Cable from X32 to S16

Yep, I agree the bundled cable is faster and pretty, and also heavy, less configurable, and much more expensive.

I've seen (I'm sure we all have) - cables get sliced by falling stuff, pinched between loose stage sections, and crunched in road cases. I agree that single cables are much cheaper and more easily replaced.

If somthing sharp and metal did pierce that bundle with ac, it MIGHT fry some of the cat-5 wires, but then again, maybe not...

Hello

I made "cheap powercat" by simply twisting cat-cable and powercable around each other. It took about two hours in a long hallway to do it. Grabbing parts that were already there it ended costing only few euros. The Cat-cable is that grey fairly stiff one, that does NOT lay flat on floor, but makes waves and loops. However , when combined with rubber powercable the result lays nicely and is flexible.

The first is about 23m long and I plan to make another using the 65 meter CAT-cable, that I have laying unused. Perhaps I even add a DMX-cable to that - I have just right free cable for that, too.

Having the cables neatly tied around each other is somewhat time-consuming, but end result is rewarding. I have the cables go full round about once every 20cm/8inches.

Re: iPad App update

It would be great if someone for Behringer would actually give us a reason why it is delayed (again) .
They might have an improved customer support service, but communication is a topic that still eeds a lot of improvement....

Re: iPad App update

Johan, if you would properly read the forum posts, you would know that it is waiting Apple approval. All apps are stuck due to christmas and new year and there is nothing Behringer can do. Someone mentioned this earlier.

Hello

I think there is nothing Behringer can do about it - for reasons already explained. Uli said it has been sent for approval - others say that Apple can take their time and be fussy about it - plus there has been X-mas.

So if you have to blame someone for lousy information, it is Apple

Personally I am eagerly waiting for it to come - I have major gig coming up on 19th ...

Once submitted to Apple, the developer (in this case Behringer) has absolutely no
control over when the app will be released. If Apple want to sit on it for a few months (and at times they have) then tough-titties. If Apple want to fast-track the release, then it is their call.

For the end-user, you can't do a thing except sit and wait.

Re: P16-M - Cannot read the pot & button labels!

Aha! - Seems I may have got some from an 'early' batch - Check out the font size a colours compared to the pic of the other one. There you go - they have already addressed the issue. :) Onya Behringer
