Need help with audiocore and xta 226 pc connection.

I bought a used xta226 for b-rigs but I just can't figure out how to connect to the thing. This is my first XTA product.

Audiocore 8.81
Windows XP
Serial port with rs232 straight thru cable. Maybe my cable but used two different cables. Does anyone have a serial straight thru cable that works with xta for sale?

I have set the baud rate at different settings, changing it on the software, computer, and dsp unit and nothing. I've tried different laptops but I'm able to connect to a driverack 260 with all three laptops.
I'm at the point of asking for someone to show me how to do it step by step or taking the unit to them to see if it works with their setup. Is there anyone near 2 hours radius from Sacramento California available. I'm frustrated as would like to flash the firmware and be able to control from pc.

Sorry if this is not varsity but I assume more varsity guys would know xta products.

Have you set the COM port baud rate (etc) in Windows' Device Manager?

Is the DP226 set to RS232 mode, Stop MIDI program changes = yes, ID = 1?

Hey Ramiro. If you make a trek to Burlingame (near SFO Airport) I'll sort you out. Email me at gabeatdelicatedotcom and I'll send you the rest of my details.

Re: Need help with audiocore and xta 226 pc connection.

Ramiro,

I bought serial cables for mine for under $5 each off eBay. Sorry I can't show you in person. I'm in Boston for a few months but I'll be back in San Francisco come June. I essentially have a 226, but my version doesn't have the front panel controls.

I've only used mine with a RS232-USB adaptor. That caused all my problems! While I don't have my unit in front of me, I set baud rate on the unit to 38000 (I think that's the max). Make sure this is set the same on the DSP and in Audiocore. If you have problems with that, it might be useful to try lowering it. Make sure the unit is set for 'Master' mode.

In Windows XP, right click 'My Computer', then Properties. I'm not sure what tab it's in, maybe System- get into Device Manager. In there, you can see what's plugged into each of your COM ports. I'm pretty sure you need to selected this in addition to the baud rate inside Audiocore. There might even be a setting for baud rate in COM port's preferences inside device manager. I don't have Windows on this laptop, so I can't pull it up in front of me.

Also, make sure you have the latest firmware on your device.

One more thing... Did you just purchase this used? There's another piece of software from XTA that will lock the device. It's a security measure to prevent unauthorized access. I think it only locks out the front panel, but may affect Audiocore as well.

Hope my rambling helps :)

Re: Need help with audiocore and xta 226 pc connection.

Maybe I was just lucky, but I use my DP448 with a cheapy Rat Shack USB to RS232 adapter on a Mac with Parallels. Baud rate needs to be set at 38400 IIRC. The only thing I run into is that sometimes the COM port will change after plugging in the adapter. So you have to go into the Device Manager and see what it picked. Then match that in AudioCore RS232 settings.

I need to check on the firmware as it currently has all the VDosc settings? If there is a security setting to lock out remote access than that could be the problem but front panel is not locked.

I've have change the baud rate and com port in device manager and have change in the application and xta226 to match. No luck

If you don't mind, can you send me a link to straight thru cable for sale on ebay. Just want to make sure I have the right one. Or if you like I'll send links to one that I think it is.
