Powering my gear with a generator.

You can probably power a very small rig like that with a Jackery or similar power bank for hours. You'd have the additional benefit that it would be silent. If you're playing weddings or folk gigs that's probably a big plus.

    Ferrofluid in Meyer Sound

Ferrofluid, or its remnants, cannot be cleaned out and replaced without removal of the voice coil, which means spider and cone, too.

    Clarify the point

Clipping causes more heat in the voice coil and heat is the long-term enemy of both transducers and electronic components. A clipped waveform has more output which must be dissipated. It's not a form of instantaneous failure, but over time is detrimental. That said, I tended to power-limit...

    Randomly Overheating Blackmagic Design Converters

I'm far, far from stupid. If you want to have a conversation centering on personal attacks, you will loose. Trust me on this one. BMD as a company makes many compromises in design that limits the longevity or functionality of their products but because of the price point, many owners or users...

    Randomly Overheating Blackmagic Design Converters

BMD is for folks with low budgets or who can live with the inherent flaws in Grant Petty's cheap-ass AV products.

    M32C Inputs and Effect Limits

In a word, no... not at the same time. The default XLR patching has buses 13 & 14 on XLR outputs 13 & 14, with XLR outputs 15 & 16 patched to main L & R. While EFX 1 is patched to BUS 13, you don't have to use it. You can unpatch it in the EFFECTS EDIT, or dedicate that effects slot to a...

X32 Rack - Assign Front Panel Knobs - Where is it in Version 4??

In full sized X/M32 that would be the equivalent of pressing the "VIEW" button in the ASSIGN control group. Took me a minute to figure that out; the key combo used for the Rack doesn't work on the full size desk.

Whats the best Com system to have for rental inventory

Hi Ben- Do a search for the "handbook of intercom engineering", IIRC it was Telex/AudioCom but the concepts apply to all brands of party line intercoms. The Big Kids play with matrix coms now, many of which have IP capability, so your participants can be almost anywhere there's internet, or...

Behringer x32 Rack matrix routing question

I'm looking at X32 Edit and the answer seems to be "no". The SEND pick off from the input channel appear to be unsplittable pairs of odd/even.

    Evaluating Frequency Response of Speakers

Figures lie and liars figure. Every manufacturer's marketing department will find the highest peak on a graph and claim that number is better than the competition. To get solidly into 30Hz you will need subwoofer(s).

    Virtual Console PC Based

Hi Mike- While you were out... we changed some of the nomenclature because digital architecture isn't "fixed" in the same way analogue is. Everything is a "mix". What we used to call AUX, foldback, monitor mixes, FX sends... they're all mixes now. Anything that groups inputs together or...

Are Altman bases way more expensive

The 50 lbs 2" threaded pipe bases? They were unobtanium for a long time (whatever foundry that cast them was either way behind or closed) so we made our own. I don't work in that shop now so I won't get into the details.
