I've been using mine off and on for some time now. The PL35 are very good on toms. I have not used them on a snare as of yet. Might be a little too dark for me. They do sound thick on toms. I find a tight Q parametric around 350 to 450 hz with a 6-8 db cut , depending on the drum and the rest flat seems to do a good job.
The PL33 sounds a lot better than I thought it would. I use it on the beater side with an Audix D6 on the front. I did notice no phase reversal is needed in this setup where as it is needed with other microphones used on the beater side.
Over all happy with them. Sound fine.
