Behringer X32 + 2x S16 huge problem

Re: Behringer X32 + 2x S16 huge problem

no i know it wont solve the problem! im just looking for way around as we use this building regular and its only shown itself since we have gone to the s16's
Im in there tomorrow testing so will have a real good look through everything - its hard when you only have the equipment in front of you once a week.

i will look into UPS devices if i cant find the problem tomorrow
It's unlikely even a UPS would solve your problem, unfortunately.

I don't understand exactly your symptoms- when do you get pops - when you plug or unplug audio gear, or when you plug or unplug unrelated electrical devices? Have you metered the receptacles you are using while you plug and unplug things? have you verified that you are actually using STP cabling - have you measured from shell to shell of your Ethercons to be sure?

Re: Behringer X32 + 2x S16 huge problem

Hi

Ok after 4 hours of trouble shooting in the venue today, I found the problem!
There seems to be more and more forums opening up about these random issues with s16s and it looks as though there could be some dodgy s16 been made.

After plugging in my new VDC cat5e stp with ethercon it still didn't sync. As I went to unplug it from the s16 I received a small shock from the socket. :-/
After taking this one out and only plugging in my second s16, no issues at all! And connection and sync straight away.

There must be some dodgy connections on some of the production lines. I am now being sent a replacement. :-)

With the dodgy s16 each time I unplugged and re plugged a power cable from the rack, it would drop sync. Same at the desk end too. But once taken out and only using the one it been FINE so far.

I reversed my inputs temporarily so the working s16 is my main one and going from that port a then from port b to port a on the dodgy one and seems to be holding out ok, that way round.

Since doing this, I have also tried all 3 cat5e cables and all worked fine no problems.

Had no trouble so far but will fully test on Sunday when everything is connected and on.

If anyone else experiences these problems or any related power issues or sync issues you probably have a dodgy s16, so get it replaced. But do check everything else first!

Thanks to all the sensible people for your advise ;-)

Just checking... You ARE powering down speaker amps before moving digital snake cables, power cables and the such. Right!

Failure to do so will keep the speaker replacement business happy.
