Re: Best powered speaker for less than $1800?
RCF's little sister DB Technoligies DVX line might be worth a look too.

Tell me about it, my RCF 310a's over Danley TH-Mini's rig don't get no respect - and I'd say Most not Some ~:-(~.When I was using T8's and Growlers primarily, I'd get questions like "where's the PA?", and "why didn't you bring the big stuff?"
I finally started taking the Orbit Shifters and Triple 12's to all my gigs and even though the Growler/T8 was plenty, people were happier. Some people hear with their eyes!
Fulcrum Acoustics FA15AC...
You overlooked the price limitation in the thread title.

While it isn't powered, a local fellow replaced his pair of QRX212s with the JTR Noisys speakers and says they get louder and sound better. Plus is lighter and pole mount.
So, some part of me would love a new set of speakers that would not only replace my QRX but in singles, be usable in SOS gigs as well.
At the higher end the TT25a seems good with the ZXa5-60 a lower cost possible.
I guess I am hearing that the NXM25a is also viable?
I general I do not prefer 90 degree cabinets for indoors as too much sound gets on the walls.

Hi Rob, what did you end up with? Or are you still looking?
Rob, how do you arrive at the $1800 price point? Is it that you have $3600 in your bank account or because you have clients that can/will only pay your rental rate on an $1800 item?
When you come up with a budget, do you take into account life expectancy of the purchase? Ease of use? Resale value? Do you factor in potential new clients that you may gain by purchasing higher quality (more expensive) equipment?
I'm curious because I see a lot of threads that are "best x for $y" and don't understand them. None of my gear purchases have been made based on how much money I have available. That is what banks and lines of credit are for. Money is so cheap right now it should not be the impediment to growth.
The RCF NX12 and the DVA DM12 are those boxes for me.
what model would you recommend? 12 SMA or the M12a? I'm kinda wondering if the coax box sounds sweeter than the more standard M12a. Only getting that thought from a few of the reviews online. Although most of them seem to come from guitar players. I'm looking for more of a small main box that can also be a nice monitor too.
A while back I asked about powered speakers that sounded better than QSC K12s when driven loud. I wanted ones that cost less than $2000 each.
At the time the EV ZXA5 was a contender.
What's out there now? I do want loud. It is rock & roll after all. I would use them with subs most of the time.
Thanks for any ideas.

I would check out RCF's new ART 745 ... looks like it should be in your price range and would be capable of some serious SPL.

12sma is my current favorite wedge.

thanks for the reply Silas. Judging by a few posts I've read and the equipment you use you probably don't do any small time gigs like me lol but for the sake of asking, have you ever had the chance to use these as a main on a still over a sub? Like a coffee shop gig or small church type stuff. Or, would you if you didn't have your favorite go to speakers? Maybe as backups?
