I've been looking at apb dynasonics pro desk 8, but I can't find a lot of feedback on them. The little I have does seem good though. I'm trying to find the dimensions and wieghts on the desk also.
So far the verona seems to be not liked that much, no stereo returns, so 8 channels are used up right away on 4 effects returns. No signal light on the channel meter, and only a 4 or 5 led meter at that.
The green faders on the verona indicate stereo channels - so not a dedicated stereo return like on really old consoles but most people prefer to use channel strips on return. Only 4 stereo strips needed/4 faders.

If you have a whole pile of outboard, and you want to stay analog, you're really in the driver's seat for used consoles. They're selling for next to nothing. As Kristian opined, the variable HPF is perhaps the one feature that will distinguish two consoles at this level. I find I make extensive use of it (on my digital consoles) and often need very little channel EQ besides that. Personally, I'm done with huge analog consoles and racks of outboard gear. I replaced a Crest GT 32 (designed by the APB guys, albeit almost 20 years ago) with an LS9-32 two years ago, and haven't looked back. GTDA few months ago, the local GC sold a Verona 40 for less than 1/3 of what you're thinking of paying for that one. I'd go with a clean used LS9 if you can justify an expenditure of $5k or more.

I know of many consoles that have two xlr inputs for stereo channels, but there are also a lot which only have jacks fcr stereo. The verona is in this category. The manual covers this issue fine but the screen printing on the console is not clear. Line in is one of the inputs; the jack labelled "direct out" is the other. There is no direct out available on the stereo channels.

Alan -
Did you look at the APB ProDesk8? List price for a 40 mic/4 stereo ch count is $9900. This should put the street price at or below the Verona. A better desk on all accounts I believe.
More questions?
