ProDesk8 outputs include 8 Auxiliary outputs, 8 analog subgroups, 8 matrix outputs, Left/Right, Center, and Mono (subwoofer). All include XLR Balanced output connectors, TRS pre fader insert points, and TRS Balanced bus inputs. (From the website). This is a very new product. Looks like you're right, they haven't got the manual posted online yet. Maybe Chuck or JP will see this and chime in with the weight.

Does the pro desk 8 have individual channel cards? How about the verona? Or are they all on 1 big board?

Not exactly. All of the APB products use a hybrid layout. Input channels can be removed in blocks of 8. The flat circuit board contains all of the pots and mechanical connections for the block of 8 channels. All of the pre-amp, eqs, and active electronics are mounted on "daughter" cards which plug in and can be quickly swapped to facilitate trouble shooting and repair. This is a very slick arrangement that largely takes advantage of the cost saving advantages of the large surface mount type circuit board layout without sacrificing servicability. The attached photo is from a Spectra, but the design is the same across the product line.

Yes and yes to your last 2 comments. If we were buying analog mixers, I'd steer the boss to APB. Designed and engineered by some of the best (and nicest) in the biz, and 2nd-to-none quality.

And a shout out to Ms Olga, for making it all fit inside the box. I think she's behind the circuit board arrangement you post down-thread.

Here are the weights of the ProDesk-8:

ProDesk-824 = 90 lbs
ProDesk-832 = 105 lbs
ProDesk-840 = 120 lbs
ProDesk-848 = 145 lbs

Part Numbers above reflect the number of Mono input channels only. All version also include 4 Stereo input channels plus 2 Stereo Program input sections within the master section, each accessing identical Front Panel (1/8") stereo analog inputs, Rear Panel Analog stereo inputs (1/4" Balanced or RCA), or Stereo USB Digital inputs.

As stated previously, we build our products in module blocks with each block containing a passive mother board, plus multiple individual active circuit boards for each channel input and output channel. It is all designed for easy service and best performance/reliability.

Thanks Chuck, I got the manual and looked that over.

My final conclusions are.

No on the A+H gl2800, gl3800
No on the mh2, I don't need vca's
No on the verona, heard 1 good thing and 99 bad things.

Just have to find the best price on a prodesk8-32 now, looking like its best suited for what I'm after.

Got the desk, Looks great!!. Question is what am I looking for for as far as lights for the desk, to plug into the sockets? Whats the best thing going?

I like the LED lights that Kemper posted. (You want the 18" ones.) That's what we use on all of our APB desks. The APB dimmer works fine with LEDs... which is not the case with all desks.
The LEDS cost a bit more up front, but I really like the color of the light and the fact that you never have a blown bulb right at showtime.

I sent this to Charles at apb, anyone else know what might be going on??

I got the pro desk 8 - 32. Been playing around with it and it has a small issue.

I put a cd player into channel 31 and 32, was testing monitors out sending signal using aux 1 through 4, when I put the aux sends down all the way on the channels you can still here music on aux 1 and 3, Its coming through the monitors, afl the aux channel and I can here it through the headphones also. 2 and 4 are quiet. I put the cd player on other channels on the desk and the same thing is happening.

Whats going on?? Its not very loud at all, but its there, aux 1 is louder then 3

It happens on the mic input and the line input 1 /4'' jack, when using the cd player. I plugged a mic into the channel and can't get it to do it. I just wan't to know why its doing it on aux 1 , and aux 3 and none of the others. ( It happens on a lot of desks, why? )
