Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Bennett, and the attached graphic provides what contribution to Ivica`s post or your original first post? What am I missing? Perhaps merely a welcome greeting and reply to a first post,
of course in the spirit of community.

Yeah Bennett
I am going to report you to the boss...

But I don't think Selena really cares what goes on here.

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

According to google it's a TV set thing... putting another winding on the high voltage flyback transformer. I suspect for some hot chassis TV set designs there was no regular mains transformer so this may be the only transformer in the unit, with low voltage step down winding for low voltage circuitry.

Are you sorry you asked, I am... :-)

This old thread popped up and I took some time to read through it since I've not been a fan of B gear for awhile. Mostly due to poor performance of the lower end rack gear I've had and flipped.

This caught my eye though. Back in the '80s when I worked on avionics that used CRT displays involving very fast stroke symbology interspersed in the raster retrace there was a fellow who developed a deflection amplifier that stored back EMF from the raster scans and used it to improve it's power efficiency. I suggested to him that a 15% efficiency gain would own the then burgeoning car audio market (this was before they started putting 20 batteries in the cars) but he consider audio to be beneath him. Gotta love eccentric analog geniuses.

I also noted the claims of automated x-ray equipment that could prevent defects. I've dealt with these machines and their oversold claims for 20+ years. HP bought a small company in Colorado called 4Pi that developed them but later abandoned the market selling the IP to some people in Malaysia. You still have to have an operator staring at a screen looking at 50% of the machines rejections to screen down to the possible few percent that might actually be bad. $500,000 boat anchors that consume production labor with little return other than the marketing appearance of doing something about product quality.

I mean, the moderator could lock a thread like this, to preserve the SNR.

If only we knew who that guy was...

I am disinclined to close this thread as Uli is still clearly paying attention, but perhaps its useful life is over and further posts will just be a waste of his time.

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Clearly Mr Behringer cared enough about the inquiry concerning product service to take the minute or two to respond to, at would have been an assumed exhausted and near dead thread, of which currently exists as a rather unique conduit to a major MI/Pro Audio & Consumer Electronics manufacturer Chief Disruptor
https://ph.linkedin.com/in/ulibehringer
amongst any of the similar audio & musician user forums.
Therefore I am inclined to agree to be disinclined to close this thread. Thread lives matter.

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

I believe the charm offensive has run it's course, and Uli has minions tasked with monitoring the forums for squeaky wheels (service complaints).

It doesn't hurt to ask. but this is an old tired thread and we are already stirring up old muck from the bottom of the tank.

New here. I find it remarkable for a CEO of a large company to personally answer questions and help customers. I have a X32 compact in use and I am very pleased with its performance. Keep up the good work Uli.

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Hi,

I've recently purchased 2 M32C units and 1 DL32. I thought I should bring up the subject of remote control apps for this platform, in particular, the M32-Cue app. I've been unable to make it work, and have opened a service support request, replied to a Care specialist from the UK, posted on the Music Group Midas Forum, and on the PSW forum.

Uli, were you to take a look at the reviews on the iTunes App Store, for the M32-Cue app, as the CEO of Music Group I think you would be most distressed. You have the ability to focus the appropriate resources and energy from Music Group to resolve the difficulties with this app, I'm sure.

The M32-Cue is central to our proposed use of the M32C/DL32 setup I've purchased. I see that the last revision of the M32-Cue app was February 4, 2015. The compatibility information states that it will requires iOS 5.1 or above, but I've found in testing that the app will not run on an iPad running 5.1.1 - no surprise there, as that iOS is quite old, but the system requirements should be correctly stated.

In any case, I'm sure your responsibilities are many, and while this may be a small thing, for me as working bandleader who voted for this platform with my wallet, it is a showstopper.

Anything you could do to get the appropriate Music Group resources on this for me would, of course, be most appreciated.

Best regards,
Bob Charest

PS: I'm also a classically trained pianist who loves jazz, and Oscar Peterson :-)

Bob, have you tried the x32 app.... Last I checked, they are interchangeable... And working on my x32 and m32 products...(but so was the m32 app working so...)

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Hi Shane,

Thank you for your post. Yes I did try, but it didn't work. I think some progress is being made on this, and, hopefully in the near term the issue will be resolved. I appreciate your help!

Best regards,
Bob Charest

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Hi Shane, I left one thing out (Sorry!) When I tried to connect to the M32C using X32-Mix, the displayed indicated that the hardware (M32C) was not supported by the app (X32-mix) - no surprise there. I have been told by others that they have been able to communicate with X32 devices from M32 apps.

I've been hearing about this a bit, but didn't believe it to tell you the truth...but obviously the more I hear it
Have you tried various versions of the firmware at all?

Re: Uli Behringer of The Music Group Q&A

Hi Shane, one the the really helpful persons over at PSW is going to do some testing at the beginning of next week. I've heard more than one person saying that they thought the apps were interchangeable - but, if I recall correctly, they were running X32 hardware.. When I first tested, the M32C was at 2.11 - I was told that the current version of firmware was 2.14. I updated the firmware and tested again with no luck.

Dear Bob - My name is Ritchie and I manage the Care Prof team in EMEA/APAC. Unfortunately the X32 Cue app is not compatible with the M32. We are aware of the software bug with the current M32 App and our R&D team have already fixed this issue and released the software, the app is currently with Apple for certification. I am very sorry that you have encountered these issues and thank-you for your patience and support in advance. If I can provide any further assistance please feel free to message me personally.
Regards
Ritchie

Hi Uli,

Thank you so much for your reply and assistance. I've heard from Charlotte Macaulay-Collins in the UK, Philip Raney, and yesterday, Ritchie Perry. They were all very helpful and prompt. I'm looking forward to the release of the new app version, and using my new system.

Best regards,
Bob

PS: Oscar with Ray Brown & Ed Thigpen playing If I Were A Bell - A favorite!

Hi Ritchie,

Thank you for your post. I'm very happy that a new version of the app is on the way! As I'd mentioned, the use of the M32-Cue app is central to what we're trying to do with the new system. It certainly sounds like I'll be able to get busy with all details of a cutover and implementation very soon. Thank you as well for the offer to message you if I'm in need of further assistance.

I don't know if I've missed it in the documentation, but when you get a moment, could you clarify if there a limitation on the number of concurrent app sessions to an M32C? In my testing, I've run the following concurrent sessions: M32-Edit(from my PC), M32-Mix(from my iPad Air2), and M32-Q or Mixstation XM32(from my Android Nexus 7 tablet.)

The reason I'm asking is because were are a 9-member ensemble with an additional person mixing FOH. I thought if this information was posted in a public forum, it might benefit others who have the same question.

Thank you again for your help on this!

Best regards,
Bob Charest

It is not recommended to have more than four full remote mixers (m32-edit, m32-mix or mix station) at the same time. This is due to the exessive data streams and the udp protocol.

When it comes to m32-q it uses way less data streams so you should be able to use at least ten clients without any problem (probably more) if you network setup has no issues. Since m32-q uses wifi, it is therefor limited to the constraints of your wifi network setup and quality of it.
