X32 Discussion

Re: X32 Discussion

Looks like I followed the wrong cable in the picture. The left one runs right under the dsp-card. I don't think that is any better ;-)

This may also explain why I hear slighly more digital noise from the left connector than the right one.

The picture you quote looks like it has XLR connectors soldered to the PC board, and they must have decided that was a sufficient mechanical connection, which I think is a bad decision. At least some Meyer input cards are the same way, and need to be resoldered once in a while if subjected to knocking around.

One of my consoles has slightly LESS digital noise from the left connector, so go figure.

Re: X32 Discussion

Yup, but I don't know if they will do multiple SSIDs - one wifi per console could be a useful way to keep users isolated to the relevant console given the lack of security features on the X32 right now. If multiple SSIDs/VLANs or the seamless management of multiple AP's aren't a requirement then there are lots of options out there. I just really like Unifi for the management features it provides, but if you don't need 'em then there are other solutions out there for sure.

Many wifi routers can also do extended coverage by joining an existing wifi nework.

I.e. If you use the airport express you can add 5GHz to your existing wifi network and at the same time extend your coverage.

After looking at wireless routers and seeing the dual band ones in the $70 USD range, I was just going to go with Airport Expess for the new consoles, too, since the extra $20 is negligible for something that will be the backbone of the operation. It sounds from your post, Robert, like this might be an OK idea, and if so, it would match what I have now. Don't like that long cord, though.

Eric's and Tim's (Ubiquiti, FruitFons, etc.) posts are more confusing. Wireless microphone management is bad enough, now I need to be worried about WiFi capacity and microwave ovens, too, apparently. Will the upcoming White Spaces devices affect any of this? I would think not since they are in different bands.

How much RF energy in the air, whether in-band or out-of-band, is too much and overloads input sections of receivers?

Re: X32 Discussion

Your consoles are under warranty - if you want them to stay that way, call Behringer support :) If you don't have a local support option or have some other circumstances that preclude you from taking the console to official support, let them tell you how to open it and fixit - and get a record from them that they did so in case it ever becomes an issue later. And don't forget to register your X32 for your extra years of support...

Thanks Eric, that's the way i do...
Waiting for an answer from Beringher now...
Of course getting solution from them is always the best way... and secure one...
All the best

The XLR's on are screwed to the chassis on two diagonal corners. They're clearly soldered onto the boards, as well, but that's not what's supporting them.

Way too funny!   Love this pic. Reminds me of how my brain feels after tying to figure out all the possibilities you have with the X32. Thanks for posting that.

Sure - it cuts your bandwidth in half and can be finicky - just depends on your requirements. If anyone is interested in this it's called WDS - and for Apple access points you used to have the old version of the Airport Utility, I'm not sure if the new utility has been updated to support WDS yet or not.

Aren't radio's fun? If you only need one wifi network for your devices and your coverage area is within a couple of hundred feet the Airport Express is a great little router, and the config utility Apple provides for the iPad/iPhone is easy to use.

Will the upcoming White Spaces devices affect any of this? I would think not since they are in different bands.

I hope not - I suspect the computer wifi manufacturers might have more clout than the wireless mic vendors and thus might be able to protect their turf better. One can hope!

Re: X32 Discussion

Just had a very pleasant conversation with Chase, and it turns out the solution to the headphone/monitor digi noise bleed problem IS contained in the 16/32 fix procedure. There are two cables that need to be dressed/routed so that they go in a good place when the console is put together, and not in a bad place.

That will clearly need to be done at the service center, and they are going to be very good about getting that done, as we have had many opportunities in this thread to observe.

As I hope I've chimed in when others have made this comment, the level of customer service we are seeing with this product is incredible if not unprecedented. You'd think that Boeing and Airbus must take care of their plane-owners this way, but for Behringer to do it at this level? Amazing!

And much appreciated.

Re: how about the ipad users starting a new thread!

The good thing about a new thread is that info on that particular subject would be in one place, and this thread has a million different subthreads that are of interest to limited audiences.

The bad thing about a new thread is that almost everything you need to know about the console is in THIS thread (although finding it can be a challenge) and therefore a new thread or threads would dilute the "almost everything" about this thread.

I like looking in this one place, and ignore the recording subdiscussions as that has little to do with my interests. I assume other people do the same with my live-based comments and suggestions. YMMV

Re: how about the ipad users starting a new thread!

I'm very happy with the service I received from the Vegas crew. 9 day total turnaround, shipping both ways on their dime. Board is upgraded to version 11 & seems to be working perfect. Well played music group....

I'm using the new AiEx with the latest firmware and used the iPad for its configuration.

Re: Feature Request (Effects)

I would also like a D2 type effect. I have had bands request a D2 for their show. A PCM 80 would be nice too. I also do some 80's rock bands and I really don't want to rack up a Lexicon for being able to create a decent tap delay.

Stereo IEM control with XiControl or XiQ

Okay, love the new iPad and iPhone apps. But I can't for the life of me see a way to alter the panning of an input to a stereo Aux bus like you would want to have available for a Personal Monitor Mixer in sither on these apps. Anyone see a way to do this that I don't see? I certainly know how to do it on the console, but need a way to allow my musos to control their own pan positions....

Oh God! I just saw a banner with lot of new stuffs for namm like x32 compact, x32 racks and more, but can't find it anymore now browsing on my phone.I'm wondering nobody's talking about them, did i saw a leaked banner? Or did i miss something? My mind is truly blown now. I hoped my church will buy a X32 soon, now i can even imagine to get a compact or rack version for my own projects. Wow wow wow. Behringer, bring it on! Can't wait!

Where'd ya see this?

Re: wifi

Since you have an iPad - Go into the wifi settings and click the arrow of each detected network. It will show you what channels are being used by the different networks.

It will not show you hidden networks though.

Hmm, when I open wifi settings, and click the arrow of a detected network I can see ip adressen etc. but no channels / frequency being used...

Ok I went into the router, and I see under wireless basic settings, I can choose the channel. from 1 to 13.
I tested it and after a reconnect it does work. So next time I have troubles I try this first.

I also see an extension channel underneath MCS... What is this good for?
